I'd give them a 5. But, I don't drive them hard and never had anything high performance to compare them to. Hit a pothole and had a bubble show up on the sidewall but the tire dealer said it is not uncommon for that to happen on ANY low profile tire.

I was never one for putting "expensive" tires on any of my cars before. Based on Tire Rack's rating of the Michelin HydroEdge, I just had them installed on a '98 Sable. The difference is amazing. It rides, handles, and sounds like a different car. I am now a believer that ratings matter very much and in most cases you get what you pay for! I will definately consider them for my non-high performance needs.

 

Surely you have to agree that the EL42 defies the logic "you get what you pay for". $1000 for the set of EL42's or $1200 a set of LS-z vs. a $400 set of Falken or Toyo tires is a clear case and point. There is no comparison between the tires and in this case either both the Falken or Toyo tire is far superior in every way to the more expensive Bridgestones.

 

0, The dealer replaced original set after many complaints @ 5K miles, the second set was worse than the first. the dealer replaced the second set after 3 days and changed my rims too. Third set lasted 17K miles. When it rained it felt like I had ice skates on my TL.

agree with the hydroplane 100 percent. of all the different high performance tires ive owned i was scared shitless driving in the rain. i was afraid to even attempt the speed limit in a few tough storms, whereas on my god damn 67 mustang it stuck to the road like glue.

Twelve months old with 10,700 miles and I have having them rotated end of month and hoping to get another 12 months out of them, that's when I normally trade car. However, should I decide to keep this TL I will definately change off tires at that time IF NOT SOONER!

My main complaint is simply that they don't feel like the traction is right, stickiness if you will. In rain or snow just feels like the tires are not in good contact with road when you turn your wheel. Also tires are not wearing that well on outside despite proper tire pressure being maintained. I normally barely think of my tires to be honest since I trade every two years and have never seen significant tire wear on previous cars ( Maxima, Avalon, wifes Altima ) I don't even usually rotate them since only have 25 k miles when I trade.

Not at all happy with tires. Love everything else about this car.

After using the crappy tires for about 10,000 miles I got Acura to warranty them out for some Falkens 512.

I would suggest you make a deal with Acura to swap them out before you take delivery of the car.

Do it ... do it now !!!

It handles okay, not good, but not terrible, but for the money, there are much better choices.

 

They r fine for everyday driving. They are not O.K. if you gun it in the snow, rain, take corners at 40 etc. Let's be honest here. Most of you that own this car are in a similar financial situation as myself and probably have too much to lose by performing stunts that are going to make the tires perform poorly, right?

Not the best tires I've ever had on a car but certainly not the worse.

I have 12,000 miles on the car and they won't pass inspection. 2 of the rear tires are less than 2/32" and the front aren't much better. Most of my mileage was highway miles.

I sure wasn't expecting to be buying tires at 12,000 miles or after the first year.

 

I can't rate as I don't have my TL just yet (end of the month)... I've read that some people here had success in complaining enough to get other tires put on by the dealer.

My question: do you think I could make a preemptive request for different tires be put on the car from the dealer? I wouldn't even mind shelling out a few hundred dollars more if I got a good ROI on that move.

Any suggestions? How would I go about having that conversation with the dealer I choose?
