Please help me pick wheels (AM)
I am torn..............
I just bought an '04 AM TL, and it came with these wheels. I don't love them. I think they would be fine if they were 18"s.
My head tells me to get another, better looking set of 17"s that would compliment the car better, and not sacrifice ride quality, with a 45 series tire.
My heart wants me to get some hawt 18"s and a 40 series tire for a sexy look.
19"s are too unrealistic. I make deliveries in downtown Atlanta, and the roads are teh suck. The opposite of freshly paved and smooth. :angryfire
I have seen a few rims on here I like, but was curious to know what members think. I don't plan on lowering the car, as it was a royal pain in the ass with my lowered Accord, 2.2in front and 2.0 rear. Tired of stressing everytime I cross a speed bump.

AM in the house. I just went from the stock 17's to 18's wrapped in 235/40 and feel little or no change in ride quality. And I'll put up my sucky Pennsy' roads against all-comers any day and win most. I truly believe you'd be fine. What style wheels are you looking for? Any brands and models of wheels posted here that you've found appealing?

GG, I've got an idea for you....install an Aspec Kit on your TL. THEN, see how you like the wheels. The Aspec Kit might change your mind!

GODZILLA & 3G TL
I'm with Steven on this one...get the Aspec lip kit first (about 700-750, depending on where you get it), then decide on wheels. My opinion for 18's, although I'm kinda biased is RJ legends (raven black machined is badass)...I have those. Or, RJ harrows...those are sick too (the ones pictured above). Plus, you don't have to take out a small loan to pick up a set lol. Whatever you decide to do, good luck man!

GODZILLA & 3G TL
Aspec lip kit was a factory option on the 3G TL...makes the car look a WHOLE lot meaner/cooler. It does lower the clearance a tiny bit, but not enough to worry about. See here for examples on my AM TL: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/hockeyman23s-picture-thread-am-ftw-updated-2-22-15-a-806363/
Note: Most of those pics are before the springs settled in...but you get the idea.

are you saying get the kit and keep the same wheels, or get the kit and get 18"s?

The kit will run you around $750 shipped to your door and the install is quite simple so you can DIY. If you can afford the kit and the wheels at the same time then go for it. If not, I'd rock the kit first.

dpends on your flavor and tastes. i prefer gunmetal or hyperblack (which is not an actual black, but more of a shade of gray). also depends how much you are willing to spend. just be weary of discontinued wheels. ya ding it, its done. damaged by the tire shop guys...done (been there, done that). i did have enkei zr1's in hyperblack, damaged by tire guys. tire shop replaces (for free) with enkei gtc01 (18x8) in hyperblack after i raised hell with them (it was the closest thing to what i had before). the gtc01 were actually a pretty big upgrade from the zr1 so i couldn't be happier.
so you are going to get varying opinions on here as to what wheels to get. just hunt around and get a few choices together of what you like, then show them to us...and we'll give you the yeah or nay or it.
running 18's, not much difference than the stock 17's. at least not that i remember since i only had the stockies on for about 11K miles.
as far as aspec lip kit...can you handle the look of the wheels that came with your car (i'm not digging them too much)?? then you could cough up the $800 for the lip kit. if the wheels are killing you and want to get a better look with tires you like...go with the new 18 inch wheelset.
as much as i like the aspec kit and wheels...i much rather prefer to individualize my car a little more. hence aftermarket enkei's and stock bumpers. though i did'nt mod much after, aside from the CAI. only other mods...aspec suspension (which was recent).
here's a glimpse of my ride (wheels look better on the car at an angle and in person):

happy modding...spend enough time on here you're gonna go broke. thankfully i haven't, i have another hobby that consumes my income.

To be honest OP, the wheels that were on the car when you bought it were . What are those anyways? 15"s? TBH the anything would be better; the stock TL wheels are 5x better looking than those lol. Foreal.

your welcome. just trying to bring some perspective to the decision making process rather than just making suggestions based on personal individual tastes.
with re: to your current rims: the chrome lip on the current rims...make them look smaller than they are. they kinda look cheap on the TL.
just keep in mind its YOUR car...do what YOU want to do to make you happy looking at it. i'm sure you won't rice it out.
