Question Pics Thread WORK XC8's: Fitment Guru's, lend me your rears!

Ok, so some of you have followed my drawn out wheel decision making process in other threads. Decided on buying another member's brand new work wheels for a very good price (thanks Josh ^*03cu1).

Got them yesterday and although they are blacker than I originally thought, I am in love with them. This will be my thread to post some pics as I get tires shipped, mounted and the suspension set to a nice stance.

I'm going with 235 tires because I have had rims for a long time so I'm good with not curbing and I'd like to avoid rubbing issues.

HERE ARE MY Q's!

1) Is 235 35 19 the size?

2) Based on the pics the rims look like they sit where the fender is, but I know with tires on, once lowered they will not touch. I was going to put towels on the ground and lower the car on the rim itself but decided against it at the last minute. With -1.5 camber front and rear I should clear, no problem, right?

3) Do you all with WORK wheels seriously run no center cap? I was told by the seller that I'd like it better with no centercap but then you can see the ugly brass looking hub protector that's dented and has a big mark on it underneath. Where did you guys order your work centers from? I tried test fitting my aspec center on but the hole is smaller.

4) Hubcentric rings will be necessary, right? It's a 73.3 hub marked on the sticker so I'll need a ring to bring it to 64 centerbore, right? Does it have to WORK specific or any one should do?

5) You all that run the anodized looking extended lugs, they are not locks, right? Like, they're just lugs. How do you lock em up? Or do you just take the chance of theft for the look?

6) I'm dealing with a 19 by 9" Wheel, front and back. +45 offset and +35 offset. Just to be clear, which one goes up front? I put the +45 up front and it just BARELY clears brembos. but the slightly more concave look of the 35's looks right in the back I think.

Thank you, I appreciate the information.
Here are a few pics I snapped.

Here are some of my girlfriend's 8th Gen accord, I lowered it on H&R Sports, put in some foglights with HID's top and bottom. I threw my aspecs on hers to see if she wants to rock em. They were already somewhat curbed by my stepdad when he owned the TL so I am going to hope she's careful and doesn't make em worse. Funny enough, so many people want these wheels and because she'd have to buy a couple of tires for the front, she's hesitant. I think it looks a lot better with the Aspecs.

Here are the XC8's...

And here is fitment on car...

Bear with me, car is dirty, and I'm very detail oriented as I get older. In my youth I would have been at the local cheap tire place trying to buy retreads to slap these on. Now, I know, that's how you f**k things up. Better to research and have all ducks in a row.

Anyone that takes the time to address the 6 questions above, thank you in advance, trust me...it's appreciated from one Aziner to another.

Jeremy.

im running no center caps with my WORKS as most people do...i had the center exposed section painted bronze to match the wheels

yes, more than likely you will need hubcentric rings.....mine came with my wheels when i bought them from a retailer

i would leave them how you have them...lower offset looks better in the rear....your tires wont poke out as much if they will at all

my input

Hey man, thank you, that's a start.
Ok, so that's a good idea, I'll just spray the centers gloss black for now. I'll have to email the seller to see if he had the hubcentric rings for it. If worst comes to worst, I'll get the centercaps later on.

About offset, I thought so, just wan't sure. So smaller offset number +35 is meant to go on the back then.

1) 235/35/19 is the perfect size for 19x9.

2) You will not rub at all with this setup, not even close actually.

3) I personally like the no-centercap look, im not running any on my TEs and I love it

4) Hubcentric rings are definitely necessary. Unless you plan on putting spacers in (I would) and you get hubcentric spacers.

5) I assume you're talking about lugs like RAYS and Kics, etc? They come with 4 locking lugs, one for each wheel. ...Actually, I think the locking lugs might cost extra for the Kics. I have the RAYS ones tho and the regular lugs are 6-sided and the locking lugs are 7-sided and come with a special key to get them off.

6) +35 in the rear, +45 in the front. I personally would definitely throw some 10mm spacers in the front, and 5mm in the rear.

Wow, ok, cool, lots of good info here man. Thank you very much.

I'm a pu**y and don't want to get too aggressive with the spacers to begin with so I think I'll rock these offsets and just get hubcentric rings. I found some one amazon, gorilla ones that do 73 outer mm and 64 inner, these are the right ones, right?

Also, I'm gonna paint what you see in the opening of the center gloss black so you won't see the difference much. Anyway know the sticker placement that come with the wheels. There are a LOT and although I probably won't put a lot of them on, I'd like to put some possibly.

not sure it all hubcentric rings are equal but I would get some from an authorized work wheels retailer to make sure they fit perfect....I wouldn't put the stickers on...its cleaner without....I'm happy with my muteki locking lugs...look into those

I agree...cleaner without stickers. Just one of those things, you got em and kinda wanna use em. lol. But I'm not going to.

About the hubcentric rings, I'm gonna say that a size is a size and the purpose of it should be pretty straightforward. We'll see, I guess.

Thanks again for the comments, all.

Well thank you man...very much! I ordered tires last night...I need to order some hubcentric rings, and today I respray painted my lugs blue cause when I stripped them of the black paint it took off the original blue. Good stuf.

Amazon.com has hubcentric rings, but it's 73mm outer diameter and 64.15mm inner diameter. Does this small difference matter or is this the one I need?

Hub is 64.1
Wheel is 73.3

Thanks man,
OF COURSE I check the thread back after I pull the trigger on some from amazon for 5 more bucks shipped.

I did a little calculation in my head, duh, it's perfect...OD should be a LITTLE smaller hence 73mm to fit in 73.3 hole, and 64.15 is just a hair bigger than hub size of 64. Figured it would be perfect. Either way, 3-5 business days, probably get here same time as the tires. Then I need to find a dude to install.

on the wheel selection. As for running without the center cap i wouldnt. I think the wheel just looks cleaner with the cap. But it seems all your questions have been answered.

Thanks man, I'm feeling like I am going to paint that area gloss black, and if it looks like ass I'll either fab something that'll work, or buy the work centers.

MY GOD...wtf did I get myself into...
WORK extended lugs, friggin 200 bucks on ebay.
WORK center caps 100 bucks. JEEVUS. that's half the cost of a cheap set of rims.

Needless to say I'm respraying my gorilla lock lugs to anodized blue again. lol. did it last night but it came out too dark...goof off and retrying tomorrow.

i know the caps should be going for $30 a piece you just have to keep searching and i would go with kics or mcgard lugs as they usually run for about $120 and come in colors.

I found Some for 120...my goal is to find another one that'll pop into the opening and then make a customer gloss black and throw one of the work stickers or have a custom acura emblem made to slap on it.

Ok...so a little plug for discounttiredirect.com here...
called them up as I received an email saying there was a problem with my order for the General Exclaim UHP's.

Got into a talk with the guy, turns out they're backordered at $141 a tire...so what does he do...we start talking about how the Yok's I have now only lasted 20K...etc...he works some magic and he hooks me up with Hankook Ventus Evo's...reated at 175 a tire for the same price PLUS a 50 dollar mail in rebate...I mean, jeez...that is good business in my opinion.

His name was Patrick and he was awesome. SO happy.

So after much debate, and my gf having the good sense of saying "wtf are you thinking with super expensive rims and trying to be a cheap bastard with the center caps"...I ordered them. Got here in 1 day from Cali, great customer service and only $5 shipping.

Here they are! I have to say, it completes the wheel to have the center. I love it. I also painted my lugs back to blue to match the valvestem.

Lol...before we give her too much credit, she DID tell me how many purses she could buy instead of tires for the aspecs I'm GONNA LET HER USE ON HER CAR. lol...she doesn't like putting money into it, but when it's said and done, she's happy with it.

About the centers...these are the only caps and the only finish for XC8's. It's my JELLY, if you will. i would have liked a black center, but in a way, it will give a center to focus on when the wheel is spinning...AND if you look at the indentations on the centers, they are black. They actually look good on bronze and white too...but it's a standard finish.

Thanks for the comments all.

looking good.

how about blue transparent film on center caps to go with lug nuts and valve stems or black to go with wheel color?

That's a damned good idea...might have to consider that. We'll see, I'll probably rock it like this for a while first...I actually like the brushed silver look, especially since we still have certain chrome accents here and there.

sorry to bump an old thread and sorry to hijack your post rockstar but really need some input from you acurazine members. the reason i am posting here is i got the same rims as rockstar Work XC8 19x9 but +45 offset all around. they r in matte black

i bought 235/35/19 tires from a guy locally

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+Pole+Position

i guess it depends on the brand of tire cuz the ones i got when i mounted them the rim sticks out more than the tires. it looks really stretched. i'll try to post a pick up later but is it true different brands will have different side walls? some more straight then others? rockstars Hankook tires looks about right.

Thinking now if i should run 245 tires. Would there be a issue with rubbing in the front and rear? i have 5mm spacers all around lowered on aspecs and might upgrade to the new Tein Street basis soon

Please help me out! Thanks in advance

Hey man, not a problem. Believe it or not, the follow up thread to this became my build thread so I forgot about this one!

I've come a long way. Congrats on the wheels...you will LOVE em. 235 is the biggest you want to go...trust me, especially once you get lowered on tein SS.

Thing about 19's and large wheels is if you go too beefy it makes the wheel look too small.

Right now, as it stands, I actually ended up with defective hankooks and swapped out to Falken 452's. They were about 10MM thicker with the same sized tires just because of the sidewall. This caused me to rub. I originally ordered 245 because I was feeling like you, I wanted more protection for the rim...WRONG...the tire didn't even mount because 245's would clear the fender.

Anyway, the way I am now I'm on
235/35/19 Falken 452's
I have the +35's up front and a 20MM spacer rear so the back ends up being +25. I am set almost all the way down on my Tein SS and have finally had the rears rolled and fronts semi rolled and semi hammered and dremeled (the front tab that catches the tire).

I rolled with 4 full sized dudes in the car today and barely rubbed...so I'm super happy.

Anyway, my advice to you is do not swap for 245's...if you have plans to lower and get the stance just right, leave it just the way it is. My suggestion would be to get your SS's...lower it a lot and the resulting front +40 (your spacer with the +45 rim) and rear +30 (get a 15MM type 2 spacer) would give you the perfect clearance (assuming you're willing to do fender roll).

Here's what mine looks like today. Hope this all helps.

Sorry, went overboard on pics but figured I'd end the thread picture heavy as a "result" of my inital questions.

thanks for the pics rockstar! hope my car looks just as good as yours. i sent you a pm. you said "the tire didn't even mount because 245's would clear the fender." did you mean 245s with your offset didn't clear your fenders?

in 3rd pic from bottom, I was not slammed, all others, yes...I'm at 1/4" from bottom of tube and 3/4" on rear.

post the pic of the problem you described!

Thank you, btw...it's been a painstakingly long and love and hate process.

This one shows the tires stretch pretty well...but remember, these are Falkens and ended up being pretty beefy.

yes...245's set at the height I'm at right now...would not clear the fenders. in addition...this happened when I had the +45 up front and +35 rear.
