Ok to go with +48 offset?

Would there be any reason not to get +48 offset for my rims even though I only need +32 right now. I want to be able to fit a big brake kit behind it in the future, any downside or difference in the look of the wheel with the +48? Thanks in advance, -Manach

that's really high for 3G TL. they will stick out really far.

how wide are the wheels and tires?

48 is pretty high for after market rims, I mean the stock rims are +45. Whats the width? I'm guessing 8.5, they'll fit but they will be hella tucked inside. Also, 99% won't fit with big brakes.

I thought they would stick out? And the wheels are 8 wide not 8.5 tires will be 245. Why doesn't ronjon have the rims offered in the stock +45? aren't the wheels made specifically for Acura. So what will fit with big brakes then, because on the site it says there made to fit big brakes?

19x8 +48 is most likely the fitment for the CL's and 2G TL's, 19x8 +32 is the RJ fitment for the 3G TL I believe. The rim will be more tucked in than the stock rim, it won't look good....at all imo and I REALLY doubt they'll fit big brakes, you can probably run spaces all around for em to look more aggressive though.

The higher the offset, the more the wheels will be tucked inside the wheel well (i.e., +45, +48). The lower the offset, the more the wheels will stick out of the car, giving it a wider stance (i.e., +30, +35, +38).

Ballin - when you say" The rim will be more tucked in than stock rim" are u talking about +32. If you are it seems that your disagreeing with princelybug when he says the lower offset will stick out more. And how do I know if I can get spaces for the rim.

I know some 3g on here have the RJ legends Im talking about getting, what did any of you go with?

ok, the 48 will fit, but will be 3mm more tucked in than stock, def won't clear BBK.

32 will be lined up with the fender and poke out more than stock, yet thwy will not rub, and they do have BBK clearance.

Lower offsets mean the wheel will poke out more, higher offset will bring the wheel closer to the suspension.

Wheel is 8.0" wide, and if you HAVE to have 48mm offset, 245 or 255/tires will probably help bring the edge of the wheel/tire combo back out a little to offset the tucked in 48mm offset.

No I'm agreein with Prince, This is how it works.

As you can see, the higher the offset number more tucked in a rim is because of the hub of the rim being further out, closer to the outside edge. In rims with a lip, most likely, the higher the rim, the less of a lip. With a lower number offset, the wheels will be more aggressive looking because they will stickout more, and in most cases with a lip, they have more of a lip. Hope that wasn't too confusing lol

Ok thanks guys I understand the offset now, and I can get spaces if needed in the future. Ron (or anyone else) do you have a picture of those wheels showing the +32 vs. the +48 offsets like front angled shots or something cuz I cant figure out what ones to get. And if you do could you also post what tires they are running.. Thanks

If you have the choice between +32 and +48, get +32 with a 235 series tire

Why 235 and not 245 or 240?

Don't even bother with the +48's. They would be tucked. I have +30's (not Ron Johns but still stick out more than his +32's). Mine are slush with the body in alingment. I actually wish they were tucked a bit more (like the +32's are). I have the 245/35 width but would get 235/35 the next time.

Why would you get 235 next time though, wouldn't you want the extra protection and wide look of 245? Your the 2nd person to say 235 and Im wondering why that is?
