Nitto or Conti

I live in Vancouver and planning on going down to discount tire in Bellingham to get new tires for my TL-S.

The price they quoted me was something around $655 installed with TPMS rebuild.

Which tires do you guys recommend ?
Continental DWS or Nitto Motivo

I heard good things about both.

Thx!

Son in law had the DWS on his mercedes and he said of all the tires he has had on it they were fine in dry & wet but the worst in the snow of all of them.

Both are all seasons so for the few snows you get down there be very careful .. even be careful once the temps get to 7c cuz the rubber looses its flex etc.

Why the TPMS rebuild?

Haven't ran the contis before but I currently have the motivos and I like how they handle. They are rated at 60k miles which is pretty ridiculous for an all season high performance tire.

Same reason why I went with the motivo 60k. Hope you went with 255/40/17 on your type s wheels.

I've had good luck with the Continentals in all sorts of weather, even snow.

+1 on Conti's. I was very tempted to try the Motivo's this year after my DWS's wore down to the D on the front after 30K miles. However, I was so happy with the DWS's in the snow and in dry weather that I decided to go with them again. Sort of the "if it ain't broken don't fix it" mentality.

I might try out the Motivo's once these Conti's wear out if I can find more reviews for them by then. I just didn't want to be part of the winter pilot program And since this will be the first winter many of the Motivo's will see (since they're new as of earlier this year), there will probably be reviews on them in the spring.

Conti's, 4th set on a variety of cars, just put the first set on my TLS... They're fantastic in all weather.

The only thing that sucks is that they don't shine up well.

Can't say anything pro or con about the Motivos, but the Conti DWS are great! Wear has been fantastic as well as wet handling. They are also very good in snow. Some complain about soft sidewalls, but I don't notice it. But then again, I don't drive aggressively very often. I would highly recommend the Contis. There is a somewhat epic thread on the Contis if you want to review it for more info. I posted a 28K mile update on the last page.

Interesting. I'm now at 30K and the full DWS is still showing. Wonder what the difference is? (See my pics in the thread linked above, last page).

I have motivos on my TL and my brother has them on his Nissan twin turbo, we live in the south and never see snow though. Like someone else said the 60K rating is very high.

I'm over in Victoria and first thing I did was come here and figure out Conti DWS were the best for our climate, imho. We rarely see snow (I leave my car home) and they're great in the wet...which we are currently "enjoying." And a high performance enough tire in summer to make spiritied driving possible. Also, $655 is a great price! I got mine for a little over $700...which was still a far cry from the "best price" I was offered from OK Tire for $1300ish plus HST. Fucking country.
