New tires for Stock 17"
I have stock 17" wheels for my 05 5AT, which means they come with the Michelins. I live in San Jose, CA, which means I get more sun than not (or if there's no sun, its just overcast or foggy). There's no such thing as snow here practically, but we do get the occasional hail.
Of course, this tire is very average (many will say below average), so there will come the time where I will want to replace them. (Speaking of which, every once in a while I can easily get the tires to spin out by accelerating not even hard at all)
My question is this: What tire(s) would you recommend if I wanted something that was grippier (to eliminate or reduce spin out or chirping), just as quiet (or quieter), and handles better than the stock tires? Bonus to those that can suggest tires that have longer durability as well.
I know this question has been asked plenty of times, but I really can't come up with a good consensus of what would be recommended for my climate. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Toyo Proxes 4...great tire and one of the better tread lifes out there. But, since you don't get a lot of rain, you might want to consider the Toyo T1S (or T1R)...little less tread life, but smokin' tire.

What kind of Michelins come on the AT? I thought all 05' TL in both 6MT and AT come with Bridgestones?

Very true...the stock Michelins do tend to chirp more than one would expect. As chili dog and boartman stated...the Toyo T1R is an excellent choice. I drove my friends FWD Maxima with those tires and they are very grippy and just as quiet as the Michelins. I dont know about the thread life though. I will be choosing the T1R ( aka "the ultimate high performance summer tire" ) when I replace my stock Michelins.

does anyone think changing the tires on the stock rims can effect the lease when returned (if you switch to toyo proxes 245/45/17)?
someone told me this past weekend that on a lease you can't change that?
