New tires are rubbing badly
I finally got my new rims and tires put on my ride.
Motegi MR7's - 18 x 7.5 +45
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S - 235/40R18
The front tires rub very badly when going around corners. I can drive straight no problem, but as soon as you turn the wheel, and the tire sticks out, it rubs and makes a very painful sound.
The rear tires rub when someone is sittin in the back seat. It only took one person sitting there to make that same painful sound come from the rear tire when I went over the smallest little bump. That made my cry as well.
I talked to a body shop, he said he could roll the back two fenders for about $100 a piece because it would take about 3 hours of good labor to roll, and then touch-up paint when it cracks.
I'm about to accept this as my only solution. But what can I do about the fronts? HELP!!!

Your offset shouldn't be much of a problem.............I'm betting it's your tire size paired with the lower offset that is giving you problems. How much are you dropped? Most people go with 225.40 -18, you tires may be a little wide. I've got 18*7.5 with a +42 offset and I don't rub at all, even with people in the back seat. Rolling the fenders is probably your only option unless you want to get smaller tires or different wheels

I'm dropped on the Comptech springs just like everybody else here. I have a bunch of pics, but of course I have no clue on how to post them here. I talked to my tire shop (Discount Tire) and they said they would be willing to swap me out for 225/40. I think that I will still get the rear fenders rolled anywayz, because I am always driving people around, and I cant risk having the fender cut into my tire. after only 40 miles with the 235's... I can already see little cut marks from where it's been rubbing.

You probably don't need to roll your fender after you replace your tires. Try it for a few days and if it rubs, cut the rear tab first before rolling your fenders.

I think that I will do that. I just called Discount and they will have my 225/40 on this Friday. My appt at the body shop isnt until next Tuesday, so that should give me ample time to try it out. I think I will go to Home Depot and buy about 8 bags of concrete (80lbs each) and throw 2 on the passenger floor, 2 in the back floor, and 4 in the trunk to test it out. That should be the same as having the extra people in the car. (640lbs total)
Good idea?

Buy Tube sand instead. It is cheaper $2.39 a tube and they are 25 lbs each. Put 2 in the rear passenger floor, Lay a heavy towel on the rear seat, lay 3 on the seat (if you want extra weight, 2 in the trunk)

Unless you need the concretes for other purposes, wouldn't it be better if you can find 4 big guys ( 200lbs or more) to sit in your car for about 10 minutes? Anyways, good luck and post pics after you get everything settle.

It would be nice to find 4 guys that would drive around with me for a while to test the car out, but my friends are all busy. Besides, I want the test to be more than normal...
hehee "normal" being me and 4 girls in the car, with a huge cooler in the trunk loaded down with booze and liquor! If my car can handle that, it can handle anything!
I wish

I have the exact same setup as ChaosityZ, though I am not lowered and running on falkens instead of those michelins. I do see that the front stick out of the body, the rear just flushes the body, so it'll defn hit the fender. I rubbed once in the rear when carelessly going over a hugh gradual bump, but i like how they look stuck out!!
and if u can post pics of the setup dropped, wanna see how it looks

Well I got the new tires put on Friday. They took off my 235's and put on 225's. So far so good, only rubbed once when turning a hard right corner. What I've discovered is that the body lean is what causes the rubbing.
When you turn right at say 25mph... the body of the car leans to the drivers side, and causes the driver's front tire to rub. Changing down to 225's has helped greatly, but not enough. I am still going to get the rear fender's rolled this week, because I just "know" that when I have passengers, its going to make the GOD AWEFUL sound again.
