New tire suggestion for 2007 TL Type S
I am looking for all season tire for my Acura 2007 TL Type S. I am from St. Louis so we do get few good snow storms a year. The current stock tire is completely useless on snow, I have to hitch a ride with my co-worker. So, I would like to get something that will work with 3 inches snow on the ground. Here are the top 3 suggestion from Tirerack.com
Continental ExtremeContact DWS---Ave. Rate: 8.7
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ---Ave. Rate: 8.3
Bridgestone Potenza G 019 Grid ---Ave. Rate: 7.5
I am open for any other suggestion.
Thanks
John

Welcome to the forum, but please use the search function next time or spend a little time looking through the forum before posting.
If you had looked down the "tire" forum subject headers, you would have found this post in 6th position:

A little context, I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and my previous car was an '06 TL 6MT.
I replaced the factory all-season Michelins with the Potenza G 019 Grids. By comparison, they gripped better in the snow/slush, and felt a little safer in the rain. However, they were noisy. It might just be me, but the Michelins - despite their poor performances in bad weather - have proven (again, to me) to be a very quiet/serene tire. If tire noise is not an issue to you, the Grids are very good for the price. I remember paying ~$675 at a Firestone for all four, mounted, balanced and that price included an extended warranty.
There's another ongoing thread within this arena about the Continental ExtremeContact DWSs... but they're so brand-spankin' new - relatively speaking - I wouldn't trust them just yet. My $.02

I had a set of DWS's on my RSX-S. The sidewall was a little soft so it felt like the car had more roll than the suspension attributed. Though there was a bit more roll, they held and didn't squeal when taking a corner with some spirit.
They were quiet, and are said to have really good wear.

Just bought the DWS for my 07 TL at Discount Tire on 6/25. Have driven a few hundred miles, first impressions are good. Ride feels smoother than OE Michelin's, as quiet if not quieter than OE (hell, the 3rd gen TLs are quieter than the 4th, and having driven a 2010 TL more than once, that's a fact), and handling seems to be just fine. No squeals on hard turns, and pretty good grip.
I know the guys at the Discount Tire shop I go to, and every one of them said the DWS, for the price, cannot be beat.
