New Info on the 2006 TPMS
I just found out from the dealer that the TPMS will not work with the A-Spec wheel. This is due to the fact that the original wheel has a cut out around the valve stem to help balance out the additional weight of the TPMS transmitter. If the transmitter is used with the A-Spec wheel the wheel won’t balance. So I now have two options. Go with the 17s or use the A-Spec wheel and have a non functioning TPMS. One thing I did not ask them was what would happen if someone wanted to use aftermarket wheels on the 06. This is something I need to ask them.
If anyone has additional info or comments I would love to hear them.

I just received my A-Spec wheel package with the yokos and the TPMS installed and balanced from Acura of Escondido. Also in the 2006 brochure they show a TL with A-Spec kit installed and list it as an option in the back. I wouldn’t imagine they would do that if it didn’t work with the TPMS (Or I would think they would have a disclaimer about not working with TPMS). My dealer has an RL on the lot with the A-Spec wheels and tires installed with the TMPS with no issues. Those are the same wheels and tires for the TL.

I think that the reason the dealer provided is pure BULL
The sensors should not weight more then between 1 and 2 ounces.
The only reason why it might not fit would be that they are designed in such a way that they need a wheel specially modified for them to force you into using only OEM Alloys, This would really stink.

OK. I just came back from the dealership and the terminology is all jacked up. What I was calling the A-Spec wheel is now the accessory wheel since there is a new A-Spec wheel coming out. Why they thought I was talking about this new A-Spec wheel I don’t know but anyway. So there is an 06 accessory wheel that will work with the TPMS.
I also found out that if I want to use an aftermarket wheel the TPMS won’t work and the warning light will remain on. Sounds crazy that you can’t disable that but whatever.
Thanks for all the info on this.

just to update this thread with latest info.
Just as long as the 04-05 wheels (stock or A-Spec) use the TPMS valve, the TPMS should work. The key thing is that the older wheels may need a little bit more wheel balance stick on weights to counter the additional mass of the TPMS valve.

they will def work. I have a set of 05 a-spec wheels with TPMS sensors mounted and balanced at the dealer with no problems at all. I know for a fact that the TPMS sensors will work in the RonJon single piece wheels as well.
The dealer is blowing smoke up your ass.
