Need Tires....
Just wanted to get some peoples advice/input on tires....i was reading reviews on tirerack for like an hour, but i figured i would drop a thread on AZ and get some experience / feedback relevant to the 3G TL
Please only post if you've had/have the setup you are reviewing
I need 245/35/19
I had Dunlop sport Maxx before, they were sticky and grippy.. but VERY noisy and poor tread wear... $230 a tire give or take

i had good year Eagle F1 tires ...best tire i ever had and i think there like 200 a pop for them in that size 245/35/19.. real good tire and its an all season tire.. bforbrain has them on his work wheels you should ask him about them....
Grippy as fcuk in the dry and rain, no problems at all. They're kinda pricey though.
F1 All seasons are about $205 a pop, installed.... awesome price.. i was starting to lean towards those (AWESOME treadwear rating too, like 420)... but i was wondering, whats the disadvantage of AS instead of going Summer tires... i know UHP tires should be a little "stickier"... but would a UHP tire really make my car perform that much better... its not like i am Auto-X'ing my vehicle.. i just want to feel securely planted to the ground, when taking turns
I've got some SUPER lightweight 19" wheels, and i want this installation to make me car feel grippier, and sportier.. the MXM4's SUCK.. i feel like i am going to fly off the road when im driving aggressive
Also, i had the FK452 on my 20" Rays... not a bad tire... not THAT noisy... pretty grippy too...and i had paid like $175 a tire for those in 245/30/20 + 255/30/20

i would think that the summer tires or the uhp would be stickier ....but it seems to me that most of the summer tires uhp tires dont have good treadwear either...
one thing is for sure the F1's are a great tire maybe not as sticky as summer tires or uhp tires but they are very good wet or dry....
you get what you pay for too.. i have falken 912 on my set up now and to me they aren't as grippy as the F1's but at the same time they are cheaper but still a good bang for the buck...

Seem like nice tires. I'll be looking for tires in the next year, going to keep these in mind. What were you leaning towards? More importantly, what were these tires mounted on, or is this a secret for now?
Uh Oh.. someones got new wheels! LoL. Honestly I've had both Proxes FZ4 and the Good Years F1 before and I prefer the F1 1000:1 over the Proxes. They are all season too and that definitely helps where we're from.
After that being said, I'm running on Generals now and I will be honest they should not be knocked on, these tires have been the most comfortable tires I've had out of all. I'm gonna get a new set once these are done that's how much I love them. However mushier sidewall and you all know what that translates to... better ride comfort and slight compromise in cornering and I emphasize slight because it not a night and day difference.
Best bang for the buck.
And don't hold out, I'm also very curious to know what wheels you went with.

I just got the Bridgestone Pole Positions like 3 weeks now and there now all that bad. I havent got to try them in snow and I dont think I will be able to, but dry traction is amazing turns on the highway I take with a breeze and wet traction is not a problem from a stop. I was little unsure about these, but they turned out to be great. I got them from tirerack.
Haha......not ready to spill it? Although, I figure somebody here could figure it out just based on weight.
This is a noob question but, with staggered wheels and directional tires, how much is that going to effect your tread wear? Unless I'm missing something, you can't rotate your tires, right?. Coming from having nothing but trucks, this is something I've never had to worry about.

I've got the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec and they just stay put on the ground. I'd say look into them b/c I think they are the #1 summer tire according to tirerack but then again you live in NY. You'd probably need something for the winter as well. Just in case you get two sets, I'd say go for the Dunlop's.
Even though they are old (ie. been around for years), I was going to suggest those; I love mine. $220 installed is a good price, too. I'm going to either get those/their replacement or General Exclaim UHP's the next time around.
Want a tire that will behave like no other, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. You'll not find a tire that will afford better handling, if that's what you're seeking. They are the OE tire on the new ZR-1 and a few other exotic cars, and a few guys with older Vettes have used these as replacements and all report a difference of night and day after installation.
Just sit down when looking at the price $343 each.
Generally speaking, the lower the UTQG, the softer the tread will be and therefore will afford better handling characteristics, but a decrease in tire life, more so if one is overly aggressive with their driving style.
Hey, it's just money and you'll probably be the first to try them out.

I was going to get the Bridgestones Pole Positions, but my local Americas Tire Co. didn't have them in stock. So, they sold me the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 for the same price. That was a savings of $400. They will be 2 years this June & about 39,000 miles I will have put on them. They are guaranteed up to 40,000 miles too. I'm looking to replace them again if I can get a similar deal. If not, then I shall try out the Pole Positions or F1's.
ahhh i finally got to see the wheels in the sunlight... i do love them...
i'm a little upset though with the wheel weights.... i've got a funny style lip, and they put the wheel weights in the middle of the barrel, which is still part of the lip.. so the weights are showing... i'm not sure if i like that too much

I would recommend Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R. They are amazing: quiet and sticky! However, tirerack had a 50% off on those tires a couple weeks ago, so they are all gone. Another great type tires are Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.
about $3gs for everything...rings, tpms, lugs, tires, mount/balance.... blah blah...
problem with the TPMS though.... this rim is SOO lightweight, and the "thin" in some parts, that where the TPMS valve screws in.. the wheel isnt thick enough
the exterior part stops spinning, before it reachs the wheel... i'll have to show pictures for people to understand... so i have no TPMS installed right now.. and then i thought to myself.. do i honestly EVER use the TPMS??? i look at it.. but it doesnt do shit for me.. i dunno if it was worth $150 on adapters
honestly..these wheels feel like they're made of plastic... i lifted one with my pinky
my old set up was
32lbs F // 34lbs R.... OEM's are about 24-25lbs... it makes a huge difference in performance, handling AND ride quality is greatly improved

I realize I don't have the same setup as you're looking at, but I do have the Eagle F-1's Summer Tires that were being discussed earlier and I am big fan. Had them for several months now and I have a 30 mile commute (each way) for work.
And I see what you mean by the placement of the weights. The tire shop dropped the ball big time.
sweet me2..whenever I start modding my car im gunna need some fellow aziners around to help me out..and id love to roll out with some people to a meet..any meets going on this late spring or summer cause im still at school but wanna go to something when i get home
