Which Michelin Tires are the BEST for the TL???

So, originally I wanted to get the Falken 512's but then I realized that it may be beneficial to spend the extra $200 for a set of Michelin's...Now, the main question is that which Michelin tires are the BEST ones for the TL??? Some have said Pilot Sport A/S and some other one, MXM4 or something like that...so could you please help me in deciding which one to buy cause I'll probably get them this weekend...Thanks!!!

fyi...my car has about 12,400 miles on it...i had the tires rotated...the ones that were in the front are almost bald (my stupidity in driving hard at times and doing burnouts)...now they are in the back and the ones that are in the front currently are okay, but if i'm going to replace the back ones, i might as well do the front ones...and now i've been hearing that michelin is giving $60 bucks off their tires so this is the best time to get the tires...

i have stock 17"'s on there...

my vote for all season tires is Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. If you want specific summer tires, the Pilot Sport (first generation and P2) are popular.

PS2 for summer tires....but, I don't understand the benefit of spending a ton more money and bypassing the Falkens...why did you give up on the Falkens?

I've heard so many positive comments about the Falkens that I decided to save $500 and put Falkens on my A spec wheels instead of the Bridgestone SO3's or the Michellin Pilots. With the $$ I save I can then buy a set of dedicated track tires when I want to do some serious driving.

Much like your review, the information on 101tires.com has a similarly positive rating for Falkens...in fact, the consumer rating puts the 512s over the Pilots A/S...the treadwear is higher on the 512s too

Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S tires are rated better than the Pilot Sport A/S on tire rack but have the same speed rating, and tread wear, just better overall quality and traction. They are also much much cheaper than the Pilots.. I say you look into some Pirelli Pzero neros, I have them and love them JMO

umm now i'm confused even more...okay well if someone could help me with this then i think i will be less confused:

1) what is the cheapest price that people are getting for the falkens and the michelins?
2) if the michelins are about $200 more than the falkens, then are the michelins worth it?

thanks in advance....

I paid $117 for the Falken in a 245/40/18 at Edgeracing.com while the Michelin cost is north of $250 per tire

I'd guess that the Falkens are less than $100 at Edge, so you'd save closer to $400

I think Michelin charges $100 per tire just to put their name on a it . They do make great tires, but there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good or in some cases better. $89 a tire is a great price considering my new 225/45/17 Bridgestone LS-Z are more than $1000 for a set. Good thing I'm not paying for them. I don't think you can go wrong with the Falkens at $89 a tire.

The price is the same as when I bought my Falkens in May, also stock 17" size. Good price, and Edge Racing will get them to you quickly.

So if I buy these tires online, are there any particular places that I should go to for them to install them? If so, how much does the installation cost (on average)?

Also, does anyone else know of an even better price than $84 for the Falken's??? I see prices from $117 --> $89 --> $84.....so just curious...

Thanks!!!

$117 is for a 245/40/18 not a 235/45/17. So your choice is $89 or $84.

Don't forget to add in the shipping costs, which varies by dealer. For my address, Edge is still cheaper total price than anyone else, but depending where you live that could change. I think Edge's price has been $89 for as long as I have been checking on Falkens, which is at least 6-7 months ago.

Install will involve a simple mount and balance...should be no more than $40-60 at any tire place...not sure it matters where you go as it is a really simple operation that isn't easily screwed up (although, I'm sure you could find someone that might screw it up!). Just go to a place in your area with a good rep., or a major tire retailer.
