Lowering springs on stock shocks
Hello all you wonderful people. I am looking to get the eibach sport springs, my question is does anyone know if it will be okay on stock springs since its only a 1" drop all around? Or would it be advisable to get aftermarket shocks? With aftermarket shocks I will be running just as much as coilovers. Thanks already

I've been on stock shocks with H&R springs for about 18 months (25k miles). No problems so far.
H&R Sports are a little more drop than Eibach, about 1/4" - 1/2" more.
Others have done it as well. Search should turn up some threads.
You may add some premature wear to the stockers, but they should last a while.

The way I see it .... I been down that road with my Talon I had before the TL. In less then 2 years I had to replace the shocks. When I lowered the TL I did both springs and shock. You already doing the work might as well get it done right. I just didn't feel like doing it twice AGAIN.

Save time and money and do the shocks at the same time.
If you're looking at it from only a "will it hang in there for a few years" you will probably be ok. However, a stiffer spring requires more damping so if you want it to be done right from a performance aspect a set of adjustable shocks would be great since you can adjust the damping to whatever springs you want.
I should add, the Type-S and A-spec guys could likely get away with a mild spring upgrade since the shock are stiffer than the base model.

Right, I forgot they started offing either Sport or Race springs with that kit. Not sure who makes the springs (or if they make them themselves). I am not familiar with the springs in that kit. You can get whichever you think suits you best, but for me, for ride quality and a moderate drop, Sport Springs are the way to go.
Or get the Nuespeed in the kit, sell 'em for ~$200 and buy something else (H&R, Eibach, etc).
Theres a Wheel Fitment thread in this forum - just a few posts down the page. Ask there.

I'm thinking that the Tein H-Tech's, with their mild drop and spring rates, might be the most suitable for stock shocks. Can anyone else verify or chime in with what they think is the optimal aftermarket spring for the stock base shocks?

I went with the Comptech on stock springs .. been 2 years now ,, no problems . I also lowered my Passat 1.5" on stock shocks .. no wear issues in 3 years.
Wear issues show up on hight mile cars.

Any spring in the ~1" - 1 1/2" drop range would be fine paired with the OEM shocks as long as they are in good operating condition.

does anybody have experience w/ the Tanabe NF210 'Normal Feeling' Springs? They claim no more than 5% increase to stock rates. Drops: 0.9 front, and 1.0 rear. Strange that they have a slight rear bias.
I'm surprised the Swift Sport Mach springs don't get much talk on this forum. I came from a lowered Subaru Forester, and Swift Springs were all the rage. I was very please w/ the Swift product.
For the TL, Swift reports -1.2inches Fr and Back.
My other consideration is the Tein H-Tech, which supposively is like -0.7 and -0.6, although every pic i see on this forum shows at least a 1 inch to 1.5 inch drop.

Can someone please explain the difference in adjusting dampening on adjustable shocks and coilovers since you can change ride height.
