Looking for imput on tires

19x8.5
*edit* I forgot the offset, so I'll have to go look tonight after work. *edit*

I'm thinking of wrapping them in Falken FK 452 245/35 (maybe 255/30). Where I live in Texas the potholes are really bad. I'm simi worried about noise, but wet and dry traction and price are the biggest factors. Deffently under a grand.
From the 2nd pic you see Tein SS with a 1" drop on stockies. I want to go about 1/2" lower if it can be done without rolling the fenders.

Any input and suggestions would be GREAT. This is all new to me, as far as getting tires to fit, as I have had trucks for the last 15 years.

Pics are with my cell phone

Right out of the box

I wanted to see them next to the car

The Falken's are a great bargain performance tire.

However, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's are the best Max Performance Summer tire on the planet (it's what I run)!

235/35/19= ~$900
245/35/19= ~$1,250

what I like is what is on my car- best bang for the buck tires -highest rated on tirerack as summer performance but also get the M&S rating. They love the rain, the heavier the better, and dry they hang on tight.
General Exclaim UHP, check firestone dealers locally as well as online stores like rack.
30 and 35 series are like rubber bands- 40 profile is good compramise IMO
that number is the percentage/ratio of sidewall height to tread width

Falken's (from what i hear) aren't "bargain" performance tires.

they're true performance tires, and very expensive though not as expensive as the numbers you posted.

I suggest you go with the 255s, as you'd want some sor of protection for the lip.

You can get 235/35/19 Falken FK 452's for ~ $135/tire. A set of 4 = $540. Pretty cheap for what I clearly stated as a PERFORMANCE tire. Therefore, it is a BARGAIN.

Also, NO ONE runs 255's on a 19"x8.5". ESPECIALLY if lowering is part of the future plans.

They're both 5-spoke, but that's about the only similarity I see. The Hiro's have a polished lip, and different designed spokes.

sorry if I sounded a bit rude in that last post.

quick question: how does width affect how much you can lower your car?

the wider the rim and tire, the more likely there is to be contact with the sharp metal edge of the fender lip and the edge of the tire
Go take a look at whats inside the rear fender lip on your cars now, and imagine if it was a wider tire on a lower car- scrape scrap scrape

Does NO ONE run a 255 on a 19"x8.5" cause of rubbbing? I was wanting to get a wider looking stance

Then you should go with 18s. If the potholes are as bad as you say they are, the 19s and a drop will crack your dental fillings.

No worries. I know that posting online, we can't convey tone/emotion as well, so it doesn't translate as good as we wish sometimes.

As for the answer to your question, 01tl4tl, has it covered.

I too have the General UHP's on my 04 TL. They are on their last leg and I am going to replace them with the same or perhaps the new eagle F1 all seasons. Those Generals are a great deal for how well they ride, handle, and what they cost

Lol, I completely agree.

The rims do look nice though.
