Koni SP3 install

Got some questions regarding the installation of the koni yellow sp3 shocks. I drilled my type s top hat bushing without a problem, but what did you guys do about the silver collar inside the bushings? There's no way to drill through that with conventional methods, so I pried it apart enough to fit the shock, then it became too wide to fit back into the bushing. So for now I installed everything back without the collar as I did not feel it's a necessary part of the suspension.

How did you guys do it?

it is necessary!
the collar fits inside the bushing in the top hat.

with that being said; my konis came with additional wider collars

unfortunately mine didnt come with the wider collars....but my car has been driving perfectly fine so far. I would guess the collar might take away any "play" inside the bushings but with type S stiff bushings, the collar shouldnt make much difference right?

since you have everything bolted back up, I would just leave it alone and see what
happens. But if it bothers you enough with out the collar...well you know what your
going to have to do?.. Take it all apart. If it was me I would just hang with it.

I can remove the top bushing without taking off the suspension. that gives me enough room to put the new sleeve in. however im still trying to figure out how to fit a new one in. koni doesnt have more for sale, and Im just trying hardware stores looking for a steel tube of the same diameter but no luck yet.

I looked up the part numbers for type S and base tl bushing, and its the same. so how do base TL's fit the top hat? People say its plug and play but that is NOT possible. someone please help?

yes exactly, they fit and ride just fine but for longevity of the bushings I'd like to find a steel collar that fits

My Konis came with a steel sleeve that was the correct diameter. I simply pulled apart my type-s bushings, removed the stock metal sleeve, drilled my type-s bushings, and then put it back together with the Koni sleeves. I also had to drill the dust boot. Everything else was plug and play.

I was really glad I am able to access everything through the top and did not need to remove the suspension again
