keepin 'em clean

I've got some painted black wheels with a chrome lip. Sometimes it looks like the black paint is dull or something. What do you guys recommend for cleaning them up and making them shine again? Should I just wax them up? Or is there something else?

Sounds like brake dust loves your wheels
3 coats of carnuba or fave car wax inside and out will make washing them easy

I hear the carnuba wax is not a good idea because the heat will decrease the longevity. I'd recommend some type of spray on wax, IE- duragloss auqawax.

GL!

+1, carnuba doesn't last on rims. I use a cheap hard shelled synthetic wax and maintain with a QD on my rims.

I am just going by what BBS wheels says about brake dust and how to cut down on it
Have no idea the melting point of carnube, but if you have space shuttle speed wax- go for it- anything to help keep these wheels clean
HPS prove they are working every time you wash the car!

Cheapest and best sealant for wheels is NuFinish liquid. You can also layer it .. girst off use something like CoroX to bring them up and clean them then the NuFinish.

Carnubas start to break down at 140 F

I'd suggest using a clay bar for the wheels...a lot of time brake dust and other contaminants can settle into the surface, and waxing it won't get them out. The clay bar will help lift them out.

Make sure if you do get a clay bar for this, to keep it separated from using it on the cars paint...the brake particles picked up on the bar can swirl up the car paint pretty badly so I'd suggest getting one strictly for the wheels.
