I Got Screwed! Need advice

Literally!

Luckily a gas station was near by, tried to fix a flat (not knowing the exact damage, as it was dark) that didn't work, luckily i had my spare tire in the trunk (40 PSI short!) then filled that up with air, used that crappy jack and got it on.

Through the top and out the side, so it can't be repaired..the luck i have.

I'm hoping i can just get a new tire and be fine, these are Toyo Proxies4 and are directional. Will i have any problems with just one new tire?

On a side note, make sure you spare tire has the correct 60psi inflation, would really of sucked on the highway.

Also these were new on my car 2k miles ago from Acura when i bought my car, you think there is some kind of warranty for my mistake? I doubt it and i would hate to take advantage of the dealership, but thought i'd ask.

Man, that has got to be the WORST place to get a screw in your tire. Unfortunately, if your tires weren't covered under some sort of Road Hazard protection, you will not be entitled to a free replacement. But since the tires were new from the dealer, they might have included tires in an extended warranty (if you bought one). If not, Just take the tire back to them anyway and ask if they would honor the replacement. you've got nothing to lose. Maybe since it's only been 2 months they might be willing to help you out.

Good luck...

Could be the pictures but the tire looks pretty worn for only 2,000 miles. If it that worn you will need two of them.

x 2

Sorry, but you should get two new tires, at least. If the other 3 tires are worn like that, I'd just get a whole new set.

Nope, you definitely want to patch it.

Patch > Plug.

Patch + Plug = The best.

Yeah, bad luck, if it just went through the tread on the edge i would of taken my chances and plugged it myself but the sidewall was hit too.

End of the day i'm out 167 bucks, i guess the lesson i learned is to get the No Fault Road Hazard Warranty when buying such expensive tires. I'll remember that next year

The photos were very clear and show a well-worn (much more than 2K miles) tire. Since you live in MI, which gets considerable snow, and since the Proxes 4 is about the worst all-season UHP tire as far as snow traction is concerned, now is the time to invest in a set of four new tires.

In the alternative, why not just hammer in two dozen more nails in each tire, and you can have near-studded-tire-like performance?

That's not bad at all, patch it up, 10 bux, and be on your merry way...

However, you can't fix/patch sidewall of a tire..the rest you can do.

Dude if the dealer doesn't warranty it, throw that thing away. Don't even think of patching a sidewall puncture. There is no reinforcement in the sidewalls and it will most definitely rip, or even worse - explode.

Plug and Play!

I know I know, everyone says patching is better, and it is. But every patch I get doesn't hold, and I've plugged DOZENS UPON DOZENS of tires, even one scurry close to the sidewall. In 13 years of plugging tires...NOT ONCE HAS THERE BEEN AN ISSUE.

But be aware plugging will get you shit-talked at and is generally considered NOT the right way to do it.
