HRE 540 vs. Racing Hart C2
Getting ready to purchase an 02 TL-S and am looking at wheels. Really like the HRE 540 and Racing Hart C2's. I haven't seen anyone mention the HRE's on this forum, and the C2's seem a little fragile? I know the HRE's are expensive, but am willing to pay for a quality wheel. Anyone have any experience with them. I also noticed that they only come in 17 x 8.5 and 18 x 8.5. Are these wheels to wide for a TL-S? Also, what spring/shock combo will give a better ride? I'm looking at Eibach and Koni. Thanks....

18x8.5 is too wide.
8 should be max.
koni shocks will make ride stiffer.
just wear out your stock shocks and consider comptech. they drop good amount and with 18's your car will look slammed

personally go with the hre's because they are original, since nobody has them and they are custom made... I would get a +50 offset with a 18x8 since those are custom made and will probably have no rubbing...

If guys have already installed 18x8 w/50mm offset with no problems I would think the 8.5's will fit also, providing of course, your car is not slammed, you are running the same size tires and you have similar drops! Here's why: almost all of the problems are in the rear. If others haven't cut or rolled then you still have that option if it does rub. Also, the rubbing contact area is near the most outside edge of the tire, near the tread. If you get the same size tire on a 1/2" wider wheel the tire will protrude a 1/4" both outside and inside where it mounts on the rim. The rubbing area will barely be affected. GET THE HRE'S AND BE THE FIRST! iF YOU DON'T GET IT YOU'LL ALWAYS BE WISHING YOU DID! BTW, I had older HRE's on an 86 Legend when they weren't too expensive!

That is the reason noone has HRE's most members are looking to spend $1100 on a PACKAGE, not ONE RIM!!
I have been here for 5 months and I have not seen any one with a rim/tire package over $3300.
It's $4400 just for those rims. Forgive me but that is just insane.

yea i wanna see this one... trust me with the limited amount of space the TL has under its wheel well, half an inch on the rim width will make a big difference, plus you dont want to be taking chances in such a big investment...

Forgot to type before I hit the reply key..... long week. Shows you how "insane" I am. HRE's are still a possibility, but I didn't realize how EXPENSIVE they are!!! I'd be afraid every day of someone ripping me off or me kissing a curb with my rims. How durable are the C2'S? I'm thinking for the money, I could have a spare set if I needed to!. The Lowenharts look pretty sweet too. Question on the shocks... will the stock shocks handle upgraded springs like Eibach or Computech? Any good shocks out there besides Koni that would give a smoother ride without compromising the handling too much? I'll keep everyone posted on my decision. Gotta sell my current wheels first and buy the TL-S. Just wanted to order the wheels ahead of time so I'm ready to style driving off the lot!
