How much should I pay to have wheels and tires shipped?
I'm looking at buying some Aspec wheels from someone on CL and having them shipped. What would be a rough estimate for shipping charges for 4 wheels, and/or wheels+tires? Thanks!

Where are they located? Ground or air? What is the total weight?
So. Many. Variables.

I know there are variables, but I would probably just have them shipped ground via UPS or USPS, whichever is cheaper. I just wanted to get an estimate so that the seller doesn't try to rip me off and ask for $500 to ship.
Another question, they are listed as 18" A Spec Wheels TL Type-S MDX Gunmetal. The photos show the wheels on an '08 TL Type S. The wheels clear Brembos, which is great because I have an '04 6MT. What is with the MDX though? Were these wheels also sold on the MDX?

From what I can see, they look like original 2004 Gunmetal A-Specs, meaning they are 18x8.5 instead of the 2005+ A-Specs being 18x8.
Odd how the ad says they were mounted on a Type-S yet the picture shows a 2004-2006 TL.

My TL is stock, but I'd love to get these wheels and paint my Brembos red. With the new Brakemotive rotors I think it would be a nice upgrade.

I shipped aspec 18x8.5" wheels with tires before, with 245/40/18 tires. So it's the exact same. It's not easy honestly it cost me $260 via FedEx and took a lot of time to package then. I checked around and FedEx had the best price. I shipped them from California to Illinois, took a week.
I took a pic of how I packaged them but I'm on my phone now so I can't get the link
Btw it was 52lb each wheel rim/tire combo

Just in case there is any question, those A-Specs are 8.0" and not the 8.5". Not that there is anything wrong with that, but wanted to make sure you know what you are getting. You can tell by how the spokes meet the outer edge of the rim. 8.0 have a lip on the rim and the 8.5 do not. Assuming the rims are clean and true, seems like a damn good deal with tires included.
Just make sure the seller protects the face of the rim when packaging/shipping.

and personally, I'd charge an extra $100 for the hassle of preparing them for shipping.

Walk the walk
Not a bargain price for 8" wide rims. Plus owning a set of 8.5" and running them on my 04 the more important feature is the backside and roundness. So unless you have some confidence in that buying from an ad like that would be a no go for me.

Id send this DIY http://howtoshipwheels.com to the seller, so you'll have peace of mind knowing the wheels are packaged safely.
As for price my guess would be under $150... The DIY breaks done the difference costs with each shipping provider iirc.
Good luck, I'm getting ready to send a set of wheels out and wanted to see what suggestions the forum community had.

I can usually ship 4 rims with tires mounted via UPS or Fedex for around 120.00 ( this was a couple years ago ) but I wouldn't pay over 150.00.
Have them shipped on 1 order. 1 order of 4 labels and preferrably sent to a business address. This makes the shipping order cheaper.
If he ships them through a packaging business it is going to be expensive.
I plan on selling my rims/tires shortly and I will have to ship them. I am figuring on 150.00 price.
I will find a way to get it there or cheaper.

Thanks everyone. The owner doesn't want to ship them, even though I have made repeated offers for the wheels. I'm going to buy some Nitto Motivo tires and XXR 530s. I can get those for $1050 shipped, which beats paying the usual $1100 just for A-spec wheels
