My first set of rims for the TL were 19's. Then after having them for 6months they started to look small. So therefore, I sold them for a set of new 20's. I think 20's looks perfect for the TL. Not too big and not too small. Just perfect!!

good question, I'm in the same boat. I'm wanted a-spec's but now I'm really feeling the RJ legend2 (in 20's). For those with 20's and a drop, how bad was ride compromised and what size tire are you running? I totaly agree 20's LOOK the best, but how do they feel?

I put 19s on my 05 and have had 4 flats, had to replace two tires, and last week I bent my rim on a pothole. The roads I drive in CA arent all that great - tons of potholes, so I am thinking about going back to a 17" wheel and getting a tire with more meat. Otherwise, I am going to need to increase the air pressure in the tires which will make the ride a little rougher. Personally I think 19's are a pretty well balanced look. I guess it is a trade off between looks and ride/maintenance.

its depend on the types of wheels. my 19 looks like 18. 20 is nice but you have to really drop your car to make it look good.

I do agree though if you do decide going with 20's you would need at least 1.25inch drop. Personally I think 1.75-2inch drop will be perfect depending on the tire size you go with. Otherwise, your TL will look like a 4x4.

20s look good, but aren't really practical if you drive your car... and they certainly aren't a performance enhancer.

- Heavy, as in almost 2x the weight of stockies
- require 30 series tires to maintain... aka rubber bands. That's a harsh ride, and a very high potential to bend em.

If you run 20s, run em like Rodney with 35 series tires and just get used to the speedo being slightly off. You may have to dremel out your fender edges to make them fit too.

IMO, high perfomance 19s are the best blend of performance and looks. My Volks weight almost the exact weight of the stock 17s, look great, 35 series tire with stock diameter...

20s are ALL for looks.

I agree with Kennedy on this one. 20's are more for looks then anything. Except your car to feel much slower because of the heavier weight mostly with the wheels. I had 20's on my ride for about 2 years and I just took them off and put my 17's back on and I can totally feel the difference. With the 20's I had 30 series tires and the ride was definitely alot rougher. I'm thinking about just getting the A-Spec wheels or finding some other wheels in 18's or 19's at the largest and put a good size tire on it. But, everyone has their own preference.

I'm going on my 3rd Set of 20's... catching up to Ed99...

I've never regreted going with 20's...

This time around... I'm going to venture into the 30 series Tires... just to get a little lower to the ground... and get my speedo a bit more accurate... Low and Slow is my moto...

My last set of 20's felt lighter than the stockies... but they still killed my brake pads... ...

Haha...yeah I am on my 3rd set of wheels!!!

So what do have in mind this time Rodney?

I do agree...20's are sick if you are aiming for looks!! You can find 20inch wheels out there that weighs in close to our OEM 17inch. For example my S-55 weighs in at only 24lb's up front and 28lbs in the rear. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the OEM 17's weigh in at about 22-25lbs?

I feelllll theee sameee way ! I hate my rims so badly... They are 18s but I really wish for 20s... I'm selling mine now...

I live in a place that the streets are full of holes (of course in some areas)... I'm scared of the 20s getting scratch, or twists (damage)...

My question is wish rims are good enogh to support those dirty holes I cross sometimes?

Do you guys recomend 19s or 20s anyways?

I'm Confuseeee

i suggest goin with 18 or 19's at most..20's look nice but become a headache and a pain in the as$ esp if u drive a lot and its ur daily driver..pot holes are unforgiving.. i would say if your 18s look too small go with 19s(get a larger lip on 19's that would give off the apperance of 20's)..19s arent small but arent big its in between

I think you got it. I love my 19's, but not only brake performance, my acceleration is also negatively affected as well.

Sconely-I feel your pain

I had 20s on my 05 for 8 months and in that time I had 4 flats, 3 bent rims and countless balance issues. I really think you need to look at your surroundings when choosing rim size. Living in the BAY, our roads are a graveyard for aftermarket rims. Too make a long story short, I went out and got some 19s and and some Fuzion ZRI's from Firestone. So far no problems and thats with a 1 inch drop, I just hate the whole pot hole dodging bit involved in daily driving.

So true! If you are going to do 20" wheels make sure that you ugrade your suspension to handle the wheels. many people just buy for looks and dont really understand how the suspension works.

Are you planning on lowering it or leaving stock? If you plan on leaving it stock I think you can go 19's with some thicker rubber, say 40 series. It won't eat everything, you still gotta dodge some of those bigger holes. The way you describe the streets in P.R its kinda like driving on San Pablo damn rd here in the Bay. You have to be on your toes throught your drive, its almost a pain.

Is it really worth it?

I'm living it stock. Lowering my car will become a huge problem for me here in PR. Believe me now I know where are all the holes in the streets... this rims I have have suffer alot... yesterday I put again my acura rims... I'm planning getting the 19s in 2 weeks... I'm doing what you told me with the rubber.
"You have to be on your toes throught your drive, its almost a pain."

tell me about it... hehe

thanks for the help

18s are just big enough and 20s are barely comfy and will have you driving on egg-shells. I think some 20s actually don't look too proprtional for the car.

19s are the best compromise and look balanced.

I have 19"'s on my TL. Prior to this car I had 20's on my 350Z, and u know what? I guess the way the suspension was set up, I blew zero tires, and it handled great. That's saying a lot in NYC.

Tried the same thing (20's rims) with my 323I prior to that, and went through tires like Pacman. So I think the suspension setup has a lot to do with whether your tires will blow or not.

No problems with the 19's on my TL, and they make the car look good.

Nice choice on the rims, but nowadays no vehicles will look balance without a lowered suspension. so get some springs/coils

I have a set of 20" rims....rarely have used them. They rob quite a bit of power from the car IMO. They look cool and all....but I am more into what will get me up and moving faster.

They do look good. But I couldn't ride around with that thin profile of a tire. The roads in my area are hit and miss, and I like a semi-smooth ride.
