How long did your tires last you?
Is it normal that my 2004 TL tires only last 22k miles? The alignment is apparently off, too because it shows outter wear only...and it's to the point I have to change them. My car is 'not' lowered either...everything is stock.
I assume the alignment & tires are not covered by warranty under this situation even they go out so quickly, right?
Thanks in advance for your input...

For some, the stock ELs wore down sooner and for others a little longer. I would assume driving habits and roads are factors. I just replaced my entire set, about 27K..... the tires were rotated at every service and the wear was pretty much even throughout. I'll probably get the alignment checked at the next service. BTW, any new photos to check out?

Haw, thanks for your input! To me it's useless that TL comes with high performance tires. I rather have all season that can last me longer.
I can't believe you remember me...LOL... been busy doing wedding/portrait work that pays for my mortgage and bills... but will try to do some car shoots which I really love. I will definitely post here if I have them. Thanks for remembering...haha!

I apologize for being direct but:
Did you not notice the tire wear at the recommended rotation times? Did you rotate? If you are just now noticing that the outer shoulder is gone, which indicates an alignment problem, it would suggest that the normal maintenance was not done, including (at least) monthly air pressure checks. Whether all season, or high performance, they won't last. What's worse, you risk a blowout on the freeway.
A good air pressure gauge is a wise investment, too.
If you are a camera buff, as I am also, you have to regularly clean your lenses, have battery backup.....all detail stuff. That's why our camera bags weigh 10+ LBS.! Same applies to your more expensive baby, your TL(as in TLC)

i got Falken ziex 512 E on my car from the factory and now they are down to the treadbars at 25020. The rating is 40,00 miles but the compound is too soft to last that long with the concrete roads in florida.

One on the right for me
I think 19k for the stock el's. I've put almost 30k on the RE750's and they are doing quite well. Longest I've ever had tires on a car.

I still have the OEM tires on my 2004 after 2 1/2 years and they show no sign of wear. They still have the little rubber titties on them.
I have rotated them once.
I have rotated them once.

I have the same type tire (different size) on my '05 6MT. They are at 44,000 with about 1/3 tread left. Some people complain about the cost of the Michelin's, but with proper maintenance, they keep you safe for a good, long time.
The adder here is that the same applies to other good tires with a little help.
Some can't be helped, like the OE shitstone EL42's, and some really soft compounded tires.

65,000 miles on 2003 Acura TL with OEM Michelin MXV+ tires. Some tread left when replaced last month with Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge tires.
19,500 miles on 2005 Acura TL with OEM Bridgestone EL42 tires. I estimate about 10,000 miles of tread wear left on tires.
My travels consists of about 75% highway and 25% local driving.

The Potenzas are OEM on Ferraris.
You must keep in mind they are high performance, low profile tires and they do not act like 14" UniRoyals.
Interestingly, of all the cars that come with EL42s, the Acura TL's are the only ones that are rated "W" or for sustained speeds up to 165 MPH.

WOW! You are the first person that I have ever heard defend the EL42's. This website is inundated with complaints from people who have, or do, own this tire.
My Acura dealership can't replace them fast enough.
Glad you like them.
By the by, the EL42's that would have come on my '05 were Z rated with 93W load rating. I had them changed out before I took delivery.

Again, check the Bridgestone website for details.
I'm not really defending the EL42s. I'm just saying that mine are doing fine so far and they are used on lots of premium performance autos. I live in a warm climate so flat-spotting has not been a problem for me.
However, I will probably change to Toyo Proxes or Perelli when the time comes.

You apparently haven't read too much about the crappy stock tires on the TL's on this forum yet.
If you had Bridgestones you did real well, but if you had the Michelins on the Navi pckg. you fared about average.
I was able to get 31,000 out of my Michelins, but only because I commuted a lot across about 18 months in my '05 TL. I put up with them way too long, but with proper rotation they wore quite well and even.
I just went with 245/45/17 Cooper Zeon Sport A/S for my 05 TL. They were only about $575 installed for a 400 AA-A tire. About 1/2 of what the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S would have been. Since I live in a rain and possible snow area I went with the Coopers over some other great tires like Pirelli's, Hankook and Yoko's.
Just replace them and be done with it. They suck !!!!!!!!!

I think my messages came up closer to the 5K mile intervals than the 3K intervals. You may want to rotate earlier if there is some unusual or accelerated wear of your tires.

I strive to rotate mine every other oil change with is at about 6,000 miles between each rotation .................
Just remember though that while rotation is of the essence, improper alignment IMO is worse for the wear on your tires along with improper tire pressure.
It is easy to just put the key in and go. At times we all can be guilty of forgetting the little things. Like lifting the hood and checking things out .........

I've only got about 21k on my Michelins- but I only run them from October thru March. Mine still look brand new ( but no titties). Glad I got the Navi (as it was explained to me Navi got Michelins and non Navi got Bridgestones.)

My alignment guy says tire life is unpredictable across all brands, even within the same mfr/model. IHO, driving style is most critical, followed by air pressure maintenance. To wit, he's had 2 guys running identical tires, one had to replace them after 20k, the other is still riding them on 60k. In another forum, I've heard of guys getting 60k from their stock tires (in warmer climes), whereas I had to replace mine here in W. Pa. after 30k. I'm the 2nd owner of this 04 TL and the stock rubber is ready to go at 33k.

Hey guys,
I feel that my tires, didn't last at all.
I'm actually here on my phone @ the tire shop, getting new wheels all the way around.
yes, im also GUILTY of not rotating them, but 31k?
on stock, height & wheels?
I had to get new tires because my tech showed me my front wheels looked (I was getting my Teins installed) & I had a gash almost all the way around one tire, not only was it bald, but it had a split.
Thank GOD nothing happened to me driving up & down, the FL turnpike.
So new tires, 245/45/17 all the way around. I'm planning on getting after market rims, but in the mean time I will pay more attention to my rotating & alignment.

Hey all,
I need to replace my tires soon; they'll have about 35k miles on them when I replace. I have 2005 Acura TL. I went to Tirerack.com and read through a gazillion reviews...and am more confused now than before. The Acura dealership I went to suggested either Cooper (the lower price) or Michelin (the higher price). I'm just looking for the best tire for the money that will provide best ride (smooth, yet good traction and not noisy). I average 30k miles per year and drive combo city/highway; and am pretty easygoing driver. I live in NC and there isn't very much snow where I live; but plenty of rainy conditions throughout the year. Any of you have suggestions for the brand you'd go with (235/45/17's)? Thank you for any feedback you can offer to help me out.

^ - I put Bridgestone RE750's on my TL 30,000 miles ago. I can get about 5,000 more miles before they are done. Pretty quiet (slightly louder than OEM) but awesome wet traction. They are pretty bad in the snow/ice but I don't drive though much of it. I'm happy with them and would buy them again.
