Help! Need direction with wheel issue

Hey everyone,

Just bought a 2007 type s with Ron Jon wheels on it: https://acurazine.com/forums/member-cars-sale-49/2007-acura-tl-type-s-29k-miles-19-ron-jon-wheels-lowered-fully-loaded-%2425-450-a-782036/

There is only one problem, the passenger side tire cannot remain inflated for more than one day. I have determined that it is an issue with the tire's connection the wheel (bead I think?). The previous owner said that he had redone it before we bought it. Talking to the local tire guy, he said that with these custom wheels the inside flakes off and that if it has been done twice there was no way his doing again would fix it. He said that we would probably need to buy a new wheel. As it turned out he also said that he had no equipment to handle 19 inch at that tire thickness or something to that degree so he also couldn't put it on if we bought it.

If I bought a new wheel I would also probably buy another to replace the bent driver's side wheel.

The main issue here: Do I buy two $350 wheels from RonJon and keep paying for expensive tires for the car or do I get stock tl-s wheels? Or is there another way to fix the issue? I could use some advice.

Thanks

I'm not quite clear. Why do you need to buy new tires for the new wheels if you're replacing a 19" with a 19"?

Don't have to buy new tires yet. My issue is with buying wheels or fixing them if there is a way. Do you have any idea how much a set of four tl-s wheels would cost and where to find them?

You can look in the black market section on here. There's usually someone selling their stock rims when they go aftermarket. It's not a bad move performance wise to go with the 17s..

Why exactly would 17s increase performance? Sorry I'm new to this.

Weight, overall diameter, and if you're pushing the limits, the super short profile of most 19s hurt cornering.

I had assumed that the diameter was the same otherwise it would require speedometer recalibration. I thought that the only difference was essentially a thinner tire which would mean that your rotational energy would reach the ground with less deformation of rubber as would be experienced with a thicker tire. Essentially the closer the car is to rubber coated wheels, the less energy lost to deformation, the better.

Oh and the wheels are aluminum.
