Handling Question
I autocross my car frequently....having problems with the ever so prevelent PUSH into the corners. At high speeds...the car just pushes into every corner badly....I am constantly fighting it. I have upgraded CT rear sway, CT shocks and springs, ect. What my thought was is to upgrade the tires for racing purposes only (track tires) to some Toyo R-888 tires all around. Now here is where I get confused.
I was talking to a guy the other day that is a veteran autocrosser and he is telling me NOT to upgrade all four tires...but to just do the fronts...and leave the backs with the current tires (YOKO) as this will cause the back end to loosen up a bit helping the car turn into the corners better and not push so badly. What is your guys thoughts on this? I was gonna do all four...not accustomed to running different tires like that...but in theory...will this work?
There is another guy I was talking to last night...he says...NO...Dont do that. Just get some good general autocross tires and work on your techniques more. He says...you are overdriving the cars abilities and trying to make the car catch up to you....which it may or may never do or be able to do - so slow it down a bit here and there and work on smooth techniques to save time and cut seconds.
All said and done...what do you guys think? I havent dont anything yet....but am just contemplating the theories here and which way to go. I see some validity in both trains of thought to some degree.

are you running competitively or just for fun?
reason being there are things that you should not touch if you want to stay in the lower classes.
but if you just run it for fun I would recommend getting either narrower rear tires or wider fronts to neutralize the understeer. Rear will get less traction and that will make the car more willing to rotate.
Or you can find someone to make a stiffer front sway bar.

Those are not for 3G TL's . Dayum....they looked cool too! I was starting to wonder how that one slipped by me! They fit 2G TL's and TSX's. I wish that would be available for our cars too!

I was talking to a couple of rsx autocross buddies and they seem to think that front tires only is the way to go. maybe do like kenny said and even get smaller tires forthe rear.
I used to play on the track with my stock 05 and know someof what you are talking about and to me cost wise it seems to make sense to only get the fronts as well.. buy two fronts first. if you don't get the desired effect buy two rears..
i think a stiffer front sway bar would give the oppisite results of what your looking for.

Sorry if it came across as implying you should get one.
And yes, wider front tires/wheels will help (like that one Pontiac is stock).

I was actually going to suggest that you disconnect the front sway bar for a lap or two and see how it feels.

if you have grippy tires all the way around, what happens is you get more traction. but what he's telling you is if you get sticky fronts, and slippery rears (such as your yokos) the car will tend to understeer less... that's why it's retarded to go staggered wheels with wider tires in FWD cars because when the rear has more bite, it keeps the rear end from "whipping" around, so it causes more understeer
Before I go suggesting something like moving the battery to the trunk, why don't you ask Stuntman, our very own Kensai Racing Koni Challenge TSX driver. You can find Bill Johnson under the motorsports section on the TSX forum; he introduced himself a couple of months ago, just before he won the Laguna Secca event.
