H&R Springs on STOCK shocks!?

Hi everyone, I am looking forward to lower my car with some H&R Springs, but I see that alot of people are recommending to purchase koni struts as well so that my car will be able to be less bumpy for the performance. I was just wondering because koni struts are like $700 and is out of my price range, would it be bad for me to run my car on stock struts/shocks with the H&R Springs??? How would the performance of the car be like? Please help! I am a newb!! Thank you!!

I have h&r sport spring with regular stock shocks. Going with koni soon. Let me answer all your question so u get an idea. With the spring and sport shock the ride is very smooth stock feel but driving at high speed more than 80mph u get a flooting feeling like u don't have control of the car. Like if u were in a boat. This does not happen at low speed driving in the city so it doeant bother me. Now, i will be replacing my shocks because i want a more firm suspension and adjust my drop a little more with the koni. My shock are going out soon since the floating feeling is due to almost blown shocks.

To install spring u have to remove the shocks and i dont know how much thw shop will charge. But u will be paying the installation price twice becuase when u buy the shock you will hav to do dlthe installation all over again

Yea u can i have H&R sport springs on my stock shocks that have 80k miles on them and they work fine. But like "eduardmc" said there starting to feel a little bumpy so once they blow ima get koni's up front. MY advice is if ur not gonna do the installation urself go with koni's right away cause ur gonna pay twice the labor to do them again if ur stock setup blows out. I did my own swap so this is why i did the stock setup first and just waiting for them to blow out. Oh yea one more thing i dont know if you have a type-s or a-spec but that will allow u to get more life outta the springs becuase they can withstand the H&R spring better then base shocks!

Ya, you can use them with stock shocks, like I did with my S. Techs for a while. But I recommend that once you put them on, start saving for the Koni's, they are really really nice.

Would you run a koni sp3 with stock spring? I do want to keep the ride comfort and would like a little drop.

If you want to keep the stock springs then just get the KONI Sports (Yellows). The SP3's have a shorter shaft for lowering springs. The KONI's can be used with stock springs.

So based on this, it would be safe to say that the Koni Yellows along side the H&R spring would be ideal?

P.S I recently purchased some H&R Race Springs and put em on my stock shocks. Now i feel every bump i hit on the road. Would the aforementioned setup improve my current one? If not, what route should i go?

SPORT Springs. NOT Race Springs.

I've had the sport springs with stock shocks for ~2 1/2 years and ~37.000 miles. No problems.

IMHO, yes, but others have different ideas/combinations that are also valid.

Look at mmade22's car. '05 MT with H&R Sports with Koni Yellows. Looks great.

This thread sucks. Besides all of the wrong terminology and mis-information, this question has only been asked a million times before. Welcome to the new acurazine.

LOL

I was going to run H&R sport springs with my stock shocks. Then I opted for H&R coilover kit. They ride better than factory and handle like a dream. Our cars hate high speed, now car is solid.
