H&R Sport Springs stock rims/shocks
I am seriously considering getting H&R sport springs. They will be going on my 08 TLS with the stock rims and shocks.
I recently read on here that this causes highway driving/steering problems above 80 mph!? can anyone verify if this is true? Also will this put too much stress on my stock shocks?
Hard to find good info, but ive been looking. Any feedback would be much appreciated. and pics are always welcome.

Sounds like to me.
I've been running that set up for 3 1/2 years and 44,000 miles. I've tracked the car that way. I've been in excess of 80 mph. I've found no such issue.
I do get a little camber wear on the tires, but keep the toe alignment in good and it's not too bad.

I dont believe springs on stock shocks would ever cause a problem like that at any speed. I think a steering problem could be caused by a bent wheel for example or control arm/ tie rods maybe being bent.
About stress on the oem shocks. I believe that certain springs like the H&R's offer a subtle drop and they are designed to work with the oem shocks. Like the eibach pro-kit vs the sportlines... id go stock shocks with the pro-kit but id change the shocks with the sportlines however cause its a bigger drop, not as close to stock as the prokit.
Now if you have a ton of miles on the stock shocks id replace them regardless of your spring choice.
Thank you for starting this thread! I was debating if i should throw tein s-techs on my stock shocks but i have 50K miles so i might have to take my own advice and buy new shocks

Springs would not cause that vibration; there is something else at play: tire balance, engine mounts, drivetrain issue, bad axle.
H&R springs will be fine on stock shocks if they are in good condition. If you have more than 60k on your original shocks you might want to consider upgrading. PM me for more information.

Can i get some highway driving feedback? I drive back and forth from miami to tallahassee a couple times a year (500miles each way) so its pretty important to me.
How much different does it feel from stock springs, particularly at high speeds (80-90mph)? How harsh is the drive feel compared to stock, is it something that would easily annoy me on long trips, or is it not really much different?
@ Bearcat94: what do you mean by camber wear? I dont know what that is haha
Thanks in advance guys

never trust the source of that info again.
i have typeS shocks and h&r springs on my base, over 10k miles since i got them, 60k on the shocks and about 20k on the springs. no problems.
i would put money on that person having blown shocks, as that would perfectly explain the issue.
if you compare to coils, they aren't nearly as stable at any speed, but that's expected.

you'll have more negative camber which cause one side (the insides) to have more wear.
this is not a real issue (this is a google image) you need to worry about.

On smooth surfaces, they're an absolute joy.
As far as camber wear, it's as viet showed, wear on the inside edge. You can get a camber kit to correct for it. It will occur with ANY lowering; lower = more camber.
In my personal opinion, for H&R Sports, the camber kit is not worth the cost, compared to the wear. Just keep a good toe alignment and that will help a lot.

how much drop did you get with this? i am thinking of doing the same set up with the new xxr 530 that are coming out and i dont want to have much fender gap, but i dont want to be slammed either.

I know this is an old thread, but rather than start a new one, thought I'd just ask here--is the H&R sport springs and OEM shocks combo just as safe at highway speeds as coilovers would be? My car is a full-time daddy mobile so I want it to be as safe and reliable as possible. Also don't want anything that would cause my shocks to wear out prematurely and give me any extra costs down the line. But I wouldn't mind having a little drop and this seems like the most affordable way to achieve it.

There may be some risk that you will wear your shocks prematurely. First because of age and mileage. Second becuase the 5AT base shocks are built a bit softer than, say, the 6MT or TL-S shocks.
I don't see the combo as 'un-safe'; it's exactly what I have (on a TL-S) and it's 100% fine on the highway (and everywhere else). At that age, imho, you're just as likely as not to blow a shock at some point anyhow.
Maybe consider A-Spec or Coil-overs OR .... Replacing your stock shocks with some 6MT or TL-S shocks while your putting the springs in.
