Got my tire slashed

Pulling in into the 24 hour fitness parking lot, I ran over some broken glass which I didn't see until I got out of the car and heard a loud 'SSHHHHHH' coming from my left front tire. It slashed straight across the sidewall so it's totally irrepairable.

I did get to try out Acura's TLC and they came out pretty quick; I would say within 15 minutes of calling to put on the donut. I also found out that our wheels are made by Enkei.

Would there be any damage if I mounted a different brand tire but still the same 235/45/17 size?

nope, you'll be ok but if you change tire brand, you should at least get 2, ideally getting the same brand or getting all 4 new tires, 2 at the very least to keep the same tread pattern in the front

This is based on zero facts, but I would either replace with exact same tire - or I would replace both the front tires then. Probably just me, but I feel better having matched tires on...at least a matching pair.

Why did you not change the tire yourself? Just curious.

I was in my work clothes. Plus I wanted to try the TLC service.

Ohhhh...I thought it was really late night - sorry read post too fast...I hear ya...grease and brake dust does not mix well with the suit/work clothes...

I used TLC once too and they were surprisingly quick as well.

Sucks to lose a relatively new tire like that.

No doubt. A lot of tread left on it. I was thinking if just I parked on the other side of the parking lot, I coulda saved $200.

Actually, it's the RE030. I checked local stores and the lowest price I got was $208.

Good excuse to get four new Avon tires and rid yourself for good of the Turanzas!!!!! If you have HPT's get the same tire. mixing tires is not the best idea.
