Got my Brake Calipers Painted
Getting these things painted was a real pain for me. I had to visit this one shop almost 3-4 times because the guy that said he would do it wasn't there most of the time. Apparently, that guy got fired so another person said they would do it. I took it back for the 4th time and they painted ONLY the brake calipers and not the brackets. I was real pissed and they said they wouldn't do them because they found it too "risky" if something happened. I was so mad at them but there was nothing I could do. So I took it to a performance shop (what I should have done in the first place) and they painted the brake brackets and put another coat on my calipers. I also bought 2 brake caliper stickers for my front calipers. After it was all said and done, I spent $65 for the first shop, $50 for the second shop, $10 for the paint, and $6 for the stickers. I spent WAY too much but the outcome so far has been good.
Here's what it looks like now:

I got these stickers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
I also used Plasti Kote 900F paint for the calipers.

Pretty Easy DIY
I painted mine myself when the car was new 6 years ago. I used metallic gold Krylon paint from Wal-Mart ($3).
It still looks the same today. No fade; no peel.

I keep it clean
The second picture is relatively recent.
I keep the car spotless. It will be six years old in April but I just now have 20k miles on it.
It is kept in a garage and I live in Florida. No snow. No salt. Clean roads.
It doesn't look any different now than when I first got it. The original tires still have the little rubber "tits" on them.

Vuther, nice work! I like the blue calipers with the white too. Get some tire black on those tires and enjoy.

I plan on painting mine in the next few weeks right before I put the new wheels on. I have a 5AT Anthracite and the wheels are machined with some black accents. I was trying to find an Anthracite caliper paint but duplicolor and 3G don't make it, so I've been debating between black and gray. Any suggestions? I love red brembos but since my car is all dark, I dont know if I want to draw that much attention to non Brembo brakes.
I saw those stickers on ebay but wasn't sure how they'd look since they are so much smaller than the Brembos. They look good though-you may have sold me on them.

Looking good man! I did mine back in November.
Like Trew, mine took quite a while to do; maybe 8 or 9 hours total. I used a dremel to clean them up and then hand painted them with a brush, 4 coats each.

Dremel
I've seen a lot of people say they used a Dremel. Ive never used one so can you let me know what attachment you used? Is it worth picking up one of these or will sandpaper do the same thing?

Those are buffing ends, but I used some that were almost identical to that. The ones I used had some sort of Scotch Brite pad on there. Using that really helped get the big stuff off of the calipers. After the big stuff was gone, I used these:
Those are pretty much like a wire brush at the end of the dremel. They got so much shit off of the caliper that the actual caliper turned a bright silver.
I hope you don't mind the pictures, it was the easiest way to describe what I was using.
