Front tires wear pattern

I rotated my tires today and discovered them like this (see pictures).

First pic is my front left. Second pic is my front right. The last pic is the rear tires (they look identical).

What the heck? Do I need alignment? But why only the front are wearing unevenly?

yes alignment.

camber or toe.

factory spec for front camber is zero. but mine was always in the negatives.

^not even.

I would just like an explanation as to what he's talking about.

misinformation is a cruel mistress...I don't want people getting the wrong idea here.

Talked to the local dealer. The tech said my front compliance bushings are crack. He recommends getting them replaced and also an alignment. Quoted $545 total. Ouch! That's expensive!

The compliance bushing replacement costs $400 by itself. Is this a DIY-able weekend project?

I think Toe has a more adverse affect on driving characteristics than Camber does. Heck, sometimes camber can actually help cornering, which makes sense why they dial in Negative camber on race cars. . Toe on the other hand, that will push and sway the F out of your car if it's reallly bad. When I first put coilovers on my TL the rear Control arms were frozen (did not expect this since i was a noob with the 3G), so i couldn't align the suspension geometry. Driving down a wavy/bumpy road was less than exciting, let me tell you. You could really feel the car go side to side while straightening out. Sure enough, Toe was off in either direction.

Cazio, either or will wear your tires. Though,Toe will def wear them down much faster.

OP, get an alignment asap! are you lowered?

Been reading some of the post about compliance bushings. Apparently, if they are damaged too much, they can start to affect tire wear pattern.

A set of front compliance bushings can be bought for ~$50. So, I am having a hard time swallowing the $400 price tag to get them replaced by the dealership.

op;If you remove the Control Arm:You'll need a press. When we did the ones on my 3G, we used a balljoint press and swung the arm out just enough to able to press out the compliance bushings and press the new one in.

The Tl will always wear the inner edge more due to camber. Toe will speed the process up.

However, looking at your tires it looks like they're underinflated since both edges are worn with the inside just a little worse. Time for some new tires, make sure pressure is right.

if you're in the carolinas or near, call hondaworks in charlotte.

front lower arm bushing change is 280 for both sides
(same if you just change compliance, or all 3)

you just have to supply the parts which is about..... $40ish

I got the bushings done. Cost 417.22
Parts cost 43.76 x 2 = 87.52
The work should include alignment in it..
Alignment by dealer without discount costs 90.
Not exactly sure where the other 200 go.
