Front Brembo Brake Pads

Can someone tell me what I should expect to pay to have front brake pads replaced. 06 Manual TL with Brembo.

I took my car to the dealer this morning for an oil change and alignment. They came to me in the waiting area to tell me that my brakes were about 80% worn and that they would do the pads for me today and said it would be $203. I agreed and told them to do it and when I got the bill they charged an additional $275 for labor to put them on. No new rotors and they didn't do anything to the existing ones. After a healthy debate with the service manager they decided to take the pads off and put back the old ones since I refused to pay the extra $275 that wasn't quoted initially. Truth is the service rep. didn't explain it to me properly at the front side of this process but instead of acknowleding this the service manager took the position of assuming I was trying to cheat him and basically said as much to me. I'm totally done with that dealership becuase of the way this was handled but at the end of the day I now need to get these brakes done and would like to know what's a fair price to pay.

Thank you

You can get OEM brembo pads onlines for alot cheaper. Pads aren't hard to put on. If u check the 3g Garage they have a Do-It-Yourself.

If u dont want the dealer to do it since they are a rip off, u can bring it to a local mechanic that im sure will do it for like half price or cheaper.

OE Pads from ebay ~$160. $200 at the dealer is about right (with the dealer mark up).

$275 for labor is shameful. Takes about 30 minutes. Less if the car is on the lift and the wheels are off.

Next time, DIY. It's easy PLUS you can clean the insides of your rims, clean the calipers and wipe down the suspension. You can bet your ass the dealer won't do that .... even at $275.

I paid 120 for OEM pads off of ebay last summer but haven't found any that cheap recently. I prefer OEM pads over anything else on the market.

DAY-UMMM. I'd do it for just a 6-pack (if its Shinerbock).

If you're just replacing pads on Brembo stock rotors? I'd stay with the OE pads. Otherwise look at Racing Brake ET series (either ET300 or ET500).

Pads from the stealership should cost a bit < $200. Also, labor should be ~ $200, for a total of $400, at the most. This includes resurfacing the rotors, of course, as well.

Resurfacing the front rotors takes ~ 90 minutes with the machine Acura uses.

275 for labor is a little too high. If the hourly rate is 115, then you shouldn't be billed for over two hours on labor. It takes them no more then 30 minutes to do the job. 60 for labor is fair, 115 is pushing it and 275 is a rip off.

You should go to a local mechanic instead.

I recommend the rotors be surfed only once, and after that, get new rotors.

I also recommend buying the oem brake pads on the internet, usually ebay has good deals from Acura dealers that sell there and head to a local mechanic. Usually kudzu has some good reviews. Just keep in mind that a good shop won't charge more then an hour for labor.

Good luck

Yeah I paid about 120 on ebay for oem pads. Nothing bites better than the oem brembo's, sometimes that milisecond of stopping power is what you NEED in a dire situation. Brake dust is insanely annoying, but it's worth it imo, you know it's doing it's job.

As for labor, I was lazy so i paid my mechanic $50.

Some members like the Duralast CMAX Gold ceramic pads. Low dust. You can get them at Autozone for $60.00 fronts. Part numbers are DGC1049 fronts and DGC536 rears. Lifetime warranty to boot.

Red face OEM PADs

I bought my OEM Brembo pads for my 2005 TL MT at Delray Acura for $152.63 plus shipping. Not too bad!
