Question Everyone with Sumi HTR+ Tires

How do you like the tires? and why is everyone getting the 225 instead of the 215?

This might get moved to Tires & Wheels but here is my 2 cents!! I've had them for a few days and so far so good. It's still early to give any real detail but they definitely are better than stock. They grip better, handle so much better in snow and rain! Once I've had a chance to really break them in I'll be happy to share more! I went with the 225/45 because I wanted a little bit more of a contact patch.

I'm running them at 40psi and thats because 40 is about average to what others seem to be inflating them to. As for the rolling, I can't say for sure because I haven't had a chance to push them but thats something I'm hoping I don't experience!

Well, I've had them on for about 5000 miles now and they are great. Can't complain for the money. I'm on 225/45R17. Like rmarin mentioned, I also wanted more contact surface on the road than the stock size. So far so good. Very predictable and wear is great. Don't really feel any rolling you talked about. I sometimes push it pretty hard during cornering and they stick like glue. Love them!

I got 215/55/17

For some reason at the time I was ordering the idea to go 225 did not cross my mind. Although I had thought about that before. I must be getting senile.

I like them. I only got Sumis in the front. The rears are still Michelin. That's because my front Michelins were pretty worn out after 17,000 miles.

I am planning to rotate the Sumis to the back soon and let the Michelins wear out again on the fronts. Then I could get another pair of Sumis. If I still like them that is.

They were great when new, for sure. Awesome in heavy rain.

Now I got a couple tousand miles on them and they are starting to slip a bit when I accelerate.

Still pretty quiet.

AXLEBACK:
what PSI are your Sumi's set at? and did you/your tire place have any problems mounting the 225/45/17s or did they have to do anything different when mounting them?

and FSTTYMS1:
I'm guessing your running a TL (NOT TYPE S) cause your on 16s? am i correct, cause i can't imagine that you put 16s on a 17" Rim unless you have them just for the winter

I set all four at 35psi. When I'm on the track, I have the front at 25psi and rear at 40psi. Work great. I got them mounted at Tire Rack and they had no problems installing them. In and out of that place in less then half an hour. Trust me dude, you can't go wrong with these babies. For $99, it's definitely the best bang for your buck.

Ok, Thanks Everyone. The guys at Tirerack gave me some advice too and since the 225's weren't in stock, i decided to stick w/ the 215/50/17s. Thanks for the feedback everyone

Did you tell the guys at tirerack that it was for a TL-S? When I did they said they couldnt sell it to me because the load capacity was less than the stock tires. I had to lie to them to get my tires.
