Eibach and Tein Springs

Alright...after few weeks of researching I have narrowed down my choices to either these 2 springs. I am not looking for a big drop, looking at 1-1.5 inch. I was able to get only a couple of feedback on the 2 brands (thanks to the members that provided me with feedback). So far from what I have read, eibach springs are stiff and does it tend to sag a bit on the rear? I've been getting mix feedback on that part. The tein s-tech are much more bumpier and the spring rate is not that great. I just basically want a smooth ride since the TLS is going to be my daily car. It would be really helpful if anyone wants to chime in on this and provide more info for me or post pictures of your ride with either of these springs. I should be studying for finals but this site is too addicting! Anyways thanks for all the help.

Well I have Eibach springs on a base TL......I'm not convinced that they are what I wanted, but nonetheless I love the feel of the car. I'm not sure what you mean by sag in the rear, but I love the look of the car as well. It rides fairly smooth, but that's hard to judge here, because the roads are so crappy in MN. It's definitely a stiffer ride than stock, but nothing unbearable. I'll try and grab a pic or two to post so you can see it. I'm actually thinking about getting rid of the Eibachs and picking up an ASPEC kit for my TL..... Good luck with making your decision.

does the rear of the car seem to be lower then the front or is it a even drop all around?

Yes. BUT.....when you look at the car to start with, the rear sits higher than the front....or it appears that way anyways. I like the look, because it "levels" the car our more.

One other thing to mention is that if you have an aftermarket J-pipe, you run the risk of bottoming out on more stuff now, which is what I do.

Eibachs make the car sit perfectly level....the rear does not "sag". If you want to lower yet still retain a rake from front to back, get the H&R Sports, or Eibachs with Konis...a superior handling set up.

I say get coilovers because even if you just get springs your gonna have to get struts eventually anyways. Might as well get adjustable and do it right the first time.

I have a set of TEIN S-Techs and I'm really impressed with them so far. They don't give the car a raked look whatsoever.

If I could have, I would have gotten coilovers, but with money being tight I just settled for the springs.

+1 springs are ok for the time being but OP, if you can wait and save some more money i'd go for a coilover kit right away

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit paired with Tokico Blues.

As for the ride. It was amazing at first, but has degraded over time. I can't tell if it's because of the springs or the shocks. BUT, if I had to guess, I would say it's the shocks. I just don't think the Tokico's were that HIGH quality to begin with. I have about 20k on the set up and here is what I can tell you about the ride. It is stiff, definitely MUCH stiffer than the stock. But, keep in mind I changed out after having 65k of hard city driven miles on my stock suspension. So if I had to guess, my stock suspension was probably wearing out and getting soft... I kind of like the stiff ride, but when traveling 80 and coming out of some of those bumps, when riding on and off or bridges on 95, it can be pretty harsh. Again, this is after 20k on the set up. When I first had it installed, it was awesome! So smooth and refined. Reminded me of my wife's BMW 330i. Now it's rougher and unrefined. However, still sporty when it comes to the handling.

As for the look, when I have my 19's on, I am NOT happy. My car sags pretty seriously in the rear. I have about a finger width gap in the rear, and about three in the front. Don't know if I did something wrong in the install, but I hate it.

Since the ride has degraded so much, I get the feeling the shocks are on the way out. Which seems premature to me, and I should send them back to Tokico. But, I don't know how to handle that whole issue since I bought them off of EBAY. Regardless, I am planning to go to coilovers next.

Beware of the sag. My car looks like crap from some angles...

Overall though,

The other set is stockies with 255/40/17's. So to begin with there is a larger gap. It's not as bad, but definitely noticable. It all depends on what you want. If you're after the "look", which is what I wanted, then don't go for Eibach. It you want performance, then they are a solid spring. But like others have mentioned, the RIGHT way to do it is to change out the struts/shocks also. In that case you're gonna spend like $600+ anyways.... So you might as well spring the extra $300 and get the coilovers. Then you have nothing to worry about, AND YOU WON'T WASTE MONEY LIKE ME!!!

I would definitely go with the Teins. I have never seen a 3rd Gen TL that did not have a saggy rear end with Eibach springs.
