Dropped car loose suspension

Hey everyone,

i just recently dropped my car on teins springs last week and now whenever i go over a any type of bump or the reflectors on the road i feel like the back end of my car seems to wanna fishtail all the time.

anybody else have this same problem?

How can i go about correcting this?

did you get it aligned after the install- thats mandatory 4 wheel thrust alignment ~$60-75

the toe is going to be way out, and the camber is going to be negative- up to 1.5 degrees negative is fine- spec limit is 1, but more than that and you should consider camber kits- which allow alignment to put things back to stock spec.
too much neg camber eats 1/2 the tread width on the tire
How dropped?- whats the fingers gap`` tire to fender measure- 1 skinny- 2 skinny- 2 fat fingers

well i havent aligned the car yet. i didt think i had to. all i know is that i dropped it 1.3 rear and 1.4 front.

but do you think its the alignment that makes the car feel loose like that?

yes- the alignment TOE sets the wheels so they are pointed straight ahead-
when you lower the car it changes the weight dynamics and the toe goes out, making the car constanly try to turn one direction and then the other- with the changes in the road its really noticable- and it kills gas mileage

Yes alignment is mandatory whenever you replace suspension parts- if you got height adjustable shocks and plan to play with the cars drop a few times until you're happy- then get the ~lifetime~ alignment deal- usually 4 in a year for 109$
If you are just adjusting the ride, like on Tein SS, not changing the height- it does not need an alignment when you change the comfort setting- only the height

with that drop you will come up less than 1.5 degree negative camber- tell the guy- set the toe and let it go~
you will be fine

It depends on how far out your alignement was before the change. If it was on the edge of viability, even a small drop could make a big difference in drive-ability. Yes, you SHOULD get an alignment.

If you lower the car 1+ inches, and most of us go 1.5 or more depending on tire and shock combo, Its BEST to get an alignment- The weight change on the suspension will change the aligement- all the parts work off each other
An alignment check is also how you find out if the negative camber is still within reason - or if you also need to buy the special replacement parts that allow the camber to be adjusted too. those are $150 fronts- 150 rears, plus install

On a stock TL- the TOE can be adjusted front and rear- thats the ONLY adjustment you can get with stock control arms or bushings.
Get a 4 wheel THRUST alignment

Did you cut the bump-stops at all too? That could be causing a bottoming when under compression which is really bad for the ride and handling.
