Question Discounttire or Onlinetires?

I was looking into getting a package deal from discounttiredirect on a set of MB's and Continental tires but I've changed my mine to get Forgestars, so obviously discount won't be able to do the mount/balance deal but I'm wanting to know if they will match this website's prices (since they're so low)

http://www.onlinetires.com/search/ve...ds/page_1.html

Or if they won't has anyone dealt with onlinetires.com before, did they have good service?

OR, would I be able to order the Forgestars and have them sent to discounttire so they can mount/balance the tires? lol

Just a thought

i ordered my forgestars from Throwdown Performance.

i ordered my tires from discount tire direct.

i had them both shipped to a local tire place i always go to. they mounted, balanced, installed TPMS same day they got delivered and i picked them up later that afternoon.

Hmm, idk if they're OEM or not, but I noticed the few times I was putting things in my cart to check prices they offered the TPMS with installation for $108, idk if they would sell them by themselves or not.

Okay, one more thing...Onlinetires.com has the Conti's in 2 different Load Indexes. One 91, the other 95. They're both 235/40/18.

http://www.onlinetires.com/products/...w+95y+bsw.html

http://www.onlinetires.com/products/...ct+dw+91y.html

What's the difference besides the huge price gap?

I would recommend you finding a GOOD price online and making Discount Tire STORE match the price. State that the price is what you want, and that Discount Tire Direct does FREE SHIPPING (they will try to say well they're cheap because of shipping...). They will match the price, and you pay a minimal fee for lifetime balance, rotation, and installation. If you want the certificates, they can be had for $24.50 a pop.

This is how I buy all my tires. Not only do I get the best price online, but I get local service and if I ever have a problem, they will take care of me.

I'm 3 hours away from their local stores so that's why I'm going online. I already got my answer from others but now my question is post #13.

Online tires is a bit cheaper but that's what I want to know, they have 2 of the EXACT same tire but their load index is different by 4 points. One is 91, the other 95. What's the difference and why the $33 difference?

Whats the load rating on your stock tire? Should try and go with at least that.

They are BFGoodrich G-Force Sports, their load rating is 1433 so their index is 93. So it's in between the Conti's. 91 should hold up though, yes?

When I bought it yes, I just bought it on Feb. 14th. They're not OEM, I think the OEMs are Michelin's if I'm not mistaken.

I'd stick with at least the OEM load rating.

We had a case a few years back up here where a vehicle had a blow out and caused a fatality and when investigated it was found the vehicle was running on tires rated well below OEM and also was a bit overloaded.. End result .. driver charged with vehicular manslaugther.

Upon searching OEM tires it seems that the OEMs were rated 93 at the least, so I'll be going after the Continental DW's 235/40/18 in a 95 load rating. Thanks for the responses Jesstzn.

My husband works in management for me and they are required to match any price , even from online competitors... If for some reason they give u a hard time online, look them up on Facebook and comment on their wall. I've checked it out and they check it daily, pretty much everyone with an issue says its resolved within a day or 2 in their favor on their posts.

ive ordered from onlinetires twice with no problems. the only thing i gotta say is that if you pop or bubble a tire they dont offer tire protection so you gotta buy another one

with that being said i find their prices to be very fair

If it's not too late, I'd save some money and get the 91Y. I ordered the 91Y Conti DW in 235/40-18 from Tirebuyer for $590 shipped. They're rated at 1477 lbs/tire vs. 1521 lbs/tire on the 95Y. So you're looking at a total load of 5908 and 6084 lbs, respectively. I'll never get anywhere close to either number. Granted, the car doesn't share the load equally, but an extra 44lbs per corner isn't worth an extra $40/tire to me. Especially since the OEM Bridgestone Turanzas EL 42's are only rated at 1433 lb/ tire.

have you looked for local tire shops? Some are pretty good..i found one in LA that has spectaular reviews and offered a price that undercut Americas/Discount tire and tire rack after installation. $118/tire for Hankook Evos installed.
