Difference Between Type S 6MT and A-Spec Suspensions

Hi,

Will an A-Spec Type S 6MT kit lower my TL-S 6MT some in addition to increasing ride stiffness and overall handling? Worth the dough?

Thanks
Grant

lower about an inch...slightly stiffer than type-s...will improve handling.

if you are looking for a bigger drop...look elsewhere.

Thanks for the fast reply...I'm looking for just about an inch so this should be perfect!

^what TLgirl said said, its a nice upgrade over the stock tl-s suspension and does drop the car slightly. It was worth it to me and paired with a progress RSB its awesome! Search, there are plenty of aspec suspension threads if you want to do some research.

One last concern...I had my alignment checked yesterday and my rear camber is at -1.6 for left rear and -1.4 for left right. Shop says spec is -0.5 to -1.5 so I'm on the edge of being out of spec. Will lowering with the A-spec kit push the negative camber even further negative? Or is there a camber kit that comes with the A-spec?

No camber kit you wont need one, its not enough of a drop, but you'll want to be sure and get an alignment done after the install.

If he's already almost out of spec at stock height, going an inch lower is definitely going to put him over the OEM spec and put him too negative. ^

You need to figure out why you have abnormal negative camber in the rear. You shouldn't have that much.

What would typically cause the rear to be too much negative camber? Bent control arm?

Negative camber increases with lower ride height. It's not adjustable from the factory. Most say you don't need a camber kit because up to 1.7 is not enough. I don't agree. I think a camber kit was needed even with a modest drop like aspec. I've replaced many rear tires because the inside edge is bald and the rest of the tire is at half tread and mine is at 1.7 in the rear. The only way to keep it from doing this is to drive the car hard and it tends to wear the whole tire more evenly. Going down the freeway for hours on end will show the most inside tire wear. I should have purchased one a long time ago. Let's not forget that braking performance is reduced when the tire is not sitting flat on the ground and the TL goes into negative camber as the body rolls in corners so this negative camber is not helping cornering either.
