Damaged Rim

Damaged Rim
Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Ive had my 07 TL for a little over a month and have a slight road rash from a curb on one of my rims....does anyone know a good fix (paint?) or should I say what the dealer says? I really want to try and touch it up.

I got my rear passenger-side rim curbed a couple of months ago. My '07 TL was just over six months old at the time. At first I was ready to use www.mobilewheelrepair.com to get it fixed since I read good things about their service on this forum. Then I realized, after noticing that almost every TL I saw parked on the street had curbed rims, that it could happen again soon after I got it fixed. I began paying close attention to other cars so I would feel better (misery likes company, right ?). The wide turning radius & less than stellar visibility contributes greatly to the curb-rash potential of the TL. Anyway, it doesn't bother me anymore and unless I point it out, no one notices even when they're standing right next to that tire. It all depends on how bad it is, so a picture of it would help.

Like the song goes, "The first cut is always the deepest."
Once you get more curb rash, the second one doesn't seem quite as painful. If you go the route of www.mobilewheelrepair.com, it'll probably be less than $100 to fix just one rim.

Very true, the TL just seems to collect curb rash. I've got two brand new rims sitting in my garage and I've realized that it's just a matter of time. Seems to be something to do with the design of the tire/rim (a very poor design). As far as curb rash goes, this is one of the worst cars I've ever owned. I love the tl, but just touch anything with the rim and it's scratched.

^^ Yeah, I think this is right - it's an outcome of the wheel/tire design and selection. The rim is very exposed with virtually no "buffer" from the tire - by the time you find out you're that close, it's too late.

Mine too....I've got a '04TL...and I've been super carefull parking. One day, I tried to back into a spot on the left side of the road, not the usual parallel parking method...sure enough, even though I had the mirror set to look down at the curb, when I backed up....I scraped the curb before I heard it....ARGGGGG!!!!!! First scratch on my TL...it's the worst.

I was astounded at how easy the TL wheels catch a curb. I have had other wide wheels before, including an '01 M5, but the 3G TL-S wheels just catch everything. Has anybody found a good match touch-up paint yet?

Ugh. Oh well, lesson learned. Be more careful, and don't try to park on a curb from 40mph street.

I fixed both of my damaged wheels a couple weeks ago. Simple fix.... Remove the wheel and lightly sand the scrubbed area with fine sandpapper. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area more than necessary. Brush touch up paint on the smoothed bare spot. Carbon Bronze Pearl is Acura's name for the grey paint on my 07TLS, and it is close enough to use for touchup on the wheels.

Just curbed my passenger front, last weekend, and was not feeling too *great* about it. I've had my car for 2 months.
Fortunately a thorough wash/dry and inspection revealed it's not at all that bad. Bigger than a scrape, at least it's not a gouge.
Oddly enough, this happened not here in my hometown of NYC -- land of parallel parking and 90° angles -- but negotiating a left hand in a small mall in Kingston, NY with poor visibility and assessment of the location of the curb.
I'll experiment with sanding/buffing it out and may try some touch up paint. Can anyone recommend a match for stock TL ('06) rims?
