Continental, dunlop or sumitmoto tires?

I need to replace one of my stock oem TL-S tire. Which should I go with? Continental extreme dws, dunlop sp sport or sumitomo HTR?

My stock michelin tire size is 235/45r/17.

I noticed the tires that i listed above has the letter Z (235/45Zr/17) What does ZR indicate?

Forget about DUNLOP's, they suck!! I would say your best option is the Sumitomo, and continentasl are also good! My humble opinion.

I just purchased two new continental extreme contact dws tires. It would only be logical to get two new front tires instead of just replacing one tire. I figured the handling would be off if i was to just replace one front tire while the remaining three are used.

Yes. The tires are a little more expensive then some other alternatives, but I can say that they are a good tire and I would recommend.

As far as what the ZR means....this explains it very well and came from Tirerack.com:

Speed Rating
Today, the only tires that continue to include the speed rating "in" the tire size (P225/50ZR16) are Z-speed rated tires. In this case, following the two digits used to identify the aspect ratio are the letters ZR to identify the tire's speed rating (Z) and its internal construction (R).

So, in a nutshell....the Z is the speed rating, and the R stands for "Radial" which is the internal construction type.

A Z speed-rated tire is certified for speeds above 149 mph, and Z was the highest speed rating before the W and Y speed ratings were created.
The 3G TL's OEM tires are W speed rated-- up to 168 mph, max.

The OEM tires-- all-season Pilot MXM4, all-season Turanza EL-42 and the Potenza RE030 or RE050 summer tires-- are all W-rated.
The ungoverned TL tops out @ 155 mph, so V-rated (up to 149 mph) tires are deemed inadequate by Acura. FWIW, the Type-S does have a governor @ 132 mph.

The next step after the V-speed rating is the W-speed rating, which does exceed the top speed of the stock 3G TL.

They are only expensive if they have to be replaced, not for the initial purchase though?

The DWS is "only" $23 more per tire on the Tire Rack.

For the DWS, read this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...745576&page=14

And then read the tirerack survey (DWS ranked as the #1 UHP A/S tire):
