Cleaning Type S wheels?

I have a 07 TL S with the stock Type S wheels. I cant seem to reach into the front wheels enough to get them clean. There is tons of brake dust build up back in them. Is there any easy way to get back there and get them clean? Or should I just jack it up and take them off and clean them one by one?

Well jacking up the car and taking them all off would obv be the best way to clean just about any wheel, but also the most time consuming. Try using this http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05142.html AMAZING product IMO. I dont think theres a wheel i couldnt clean using this. It just attaches right to your drill and you can pick it up at any local Autozone or Auto Part store... Good luck

Hit up Patrick (ExcelDetail) in the Wash and Wax subforum.

And a good cleaning and waxing when rotating tires is a *big* help.

The best thing is remove the wheels- wash and treat with 3 coats synthetic car wax (info from ExcelDetail) Synthetic has 100 degree higher melt point and will stay on for 3+ months of washings -in my experience
Slick surface makes it hard for brake dust to adhere to the rims

For general wheel cleaning I use a soft cotton fabric type toilet brush $1
Reaches all the way in the wheel and when dirty it gets tossed in the recycle bin

The best (cheapest) way I do mine is unfolding the cloth (soft wash cloth ect.) and using a paint stick, just lay the cloth over it and slowly wipe the dust off. It goes between the wheel and caliper with no problem. Just so long as you don't get in a hurry and allow the cloth to slip off, it does a great job this side of removing the wheel.
