Changing my Pirelli P-Zero's for Toyo Proxes 4's after 15k
I purchaced a set of Pirelli P-Zero Nero's in Aug/04, and now after 15k of wear (about half the tread left), I just discovered a inner sidewall bulge on the front left tire that has a slow leak. The Kaufmann tire where I bought them in Atlanta claims it was from some sort of impact. Plus the first AM drive flatspotting has returned since it's cool again. Kauffman agreed to replace the one tire and mount it on the rear. I called 2 differend Acura service managers and their opinions differed on changing one or all four. I'm going to bite the bullet and change out all four with Toyo Proxes 4. I'll post my review ont the Proxes next week.

I thought about doing that before ordering. I stayed with the 235's after rechecking the Toyo spec chart on revs per mile. The 245's turn at 808 vs 819 RPM on the 235's. Even after my wife curbed and cracked a rim last fall, I cant afford speedometer error speeding tickets due to local speed traps. My wife promised me she won't curb another rim after witnessing my breakdown from being a helpless passenger when she did the last one.

At 30 mph, the odometer is off .4 mph.
Here's a great site to use a tire/odometer calculator.

I tried the calculalator and at 80 mph(my normal max speed)- I would be off by .99 MPH. Thanks for the link to the calculator.
I'll try the 245's out and post a review next week.

I had 245/45/17 Proxes 4's installed today ($553.30) and have driven about 150 miles so far. Other than a slight vibration between 70-80 which I'll get addressed next week, the tires are great! Quieter, smoother, terrific traction (at least dry -- no rain today). Plus the car just feels much more stable and composed going down the highway.

The Proxes have been installed! the 245/40's are by far the largest tire I could get away with installing on my 18X8 rims without the tread protruding outside the upper radius of the fenders. Plus they provide more rim protection than the 235's I replaced. When I described all the issues I had with the Pirelli P-Zero's to the Kaufmann salesman he was not surprised, and declared "you wont have those problems with the Toyos". I just wish I had listened to his Proxes recommendation before buying the Pirellis last year!

I have to report that the cold morning flatspotting dissapeared with the Toyo's! I do have a noise issue on virgin asphalt and heavy rain/asphalt. It may be alignment related- I have a slight pull to the left. I'll allow the tires to run in a few more days before deciding on an alignment.
I'll update my photos asap with the Toyo's.

My droning noise on virgin asphalt, grooved concrete has improved by lowering my cold tire pressure from 36 to 32 psi. Sorry for not posting new pics yet.
