Center caps

I have all the pieces necessary for the transformation of my TL. They are listed in my sig below. I have only one question for those using polished rims (as my new ones are) or chromed rims: Do you bother to upgrade from the standard Acura center caps? I have an extra set that I could put on my new RonJons, but the color doesn't quite match up (gray w/black logo vs. polished shine).

I found a place to buy chromed Acura center caps, and they're $43 a pop. Has anyone else done this with their wheels, or just stuck with the stock caps? I'm looking for pics and found popeyedeno's car w/ 1pfs and the standard center cap, and it seems to stick out a little much....

Here it is....

...or would having chromed center caps just be way too much bling? The regular center caps don't look bad at all, they take away a little from the gorgeous wheel itself. I've got plenty of time to make a decision as my plan is to put everything on next month sometime. I can't wait!

I think that would look a lot better with the chrome center caps. But for $200? I dunno.

But I'm a poor kid in a first gen.

Closer pic?

I have stock wheels on my TL, so I can't comment from experience. However, if you have a close-up pic of one of your aftermarket wheels with the stock center cap, I and others can give you our opinions on how it looks.

Neuronbob,
Good perspective..I didn't really think about it until you pointed it out..I would prefer that it match, but the price has to be right..for my car, the black emblem is in line with my silver and black theme..the cap with a polished look would certainly be an improvement.
Here are a couple close-up shots...hope this helps with the discussion

I bought 2001 CL-S center caps to match the brushed aluminum face on my wheels. For polished/chrome, I think the chrome would look better...I don't like the two-tone look. But at $43/piece, I'd have some thinking to do...knowing me, though, I'd spring for them. If you don't mind two-tone, save a buck and go with stock...at least the stock center caps match SSM.

Bob,

Do 1 of 2 things. Contact Scott at Acura of Escondido and buy the a-spec chrome caps from him. OR, get the factory 17" wheel caps in chrome from the ebay seller that sells chrome versions of those wheels. Just a thought, good luck!

Doubtful...I got my caps from A of E and they were just over $40 for four, shipped. I think all Acura center caps are plastic, so the ASPEC ones are probably just chrome-look plastic...I wouldn't expect them to be any more than any other kind of center cap. And to think I didn't ask earlier if Acura had chrome caps for chrome wheels because I thought they never made any (or chrome-look) ...guess I need to get out more...

God I love this board!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

1st to popeyedeno for the close-up shots. I think your TL is really hot, I can't wait until next month when I can doll mine up! (Bloody winter....) I could live with the two-tone look at $43 a cap. That price is from a place called Wheel Creations Plus, a specialist in chroming wheels. I don't think I'll be doing that.

2nd to all those who suggested eBay. I've looked all over eBay for the last week for center caps but the stock caps and plain chromed caps (e.g. no logo) were the only ones that came up. I think I'll be calling AOE today as they don't have the A-Spec chromed center caps on their online store.

Thank you! Will let you know how it goes.

Heres what you get from AofE on the A-spec rims...one bag in each box....I showed both pics so you can get an idea if what they look like. Note...that is clear red tear-off film under the acura logo...there is no red in the cap whatsoever...just looks that way at initial glance.

Is that part # for the combination? If so, I can also look it up on acuraparts247 or acuraoemparts.com

I think that is that part# for the chrome center cap....and just one. NIB the acura logo is not attached yet.

Correction....I bet this part# is just for the new rim kit as it has valve stems in it too.....I will check the part# reference guide when I get home.

Bummer. Apparently, Acura no longer is selling these separately. I contacted Scott at AOE, and have spoken to HAW and....no love either way. I guess Acura insists that their A-Spec center caps go on their wheels.

I'll be going with the two-tone look for now, unless something shows up on eBay. I'm not paying $43 a cap for this.

So what are you supposed to do if you loose a center cap for some reason? I doubt they're going to tell you that you have to ride around without one. I don't doubt that they won't sell them to you, but this just seems odd. Like cTLgo, I had no problem getting four caps for my Devotions 6-8 months ago...granted mine aren't for ASPEC wheels (and I don't think his are, either), so are ASPEC caps some how special? I'm sorry, but this just strikes me as odd.

Seems odd to me, too, but that's what I'm told from two different suppliers. In addition, when searching acuraparts247 and acuraoemparts for anything resembling this, no part number is listed. Just have to keep watching eBay...

Hey...that sounds so silly that might even make a national news blurb fill in? Katie could squeeze it in between Matt Lauers report from Torino and Al Rokers weather report.....

I got a wheel set from these folks a few years ago....that is a good wheel cap selection too! Just about everything you'd need!
