Car pulls to the side on highway

I know highways are designed not to be really flat, but my Tl always pull to the side of the highway. Took it to the dealer today and they said it depends on the road condition. I have drove other cars before, never drove a car like this. Is that the tire problem or what? My dealer told me since the tire is kind of wide, it tracks the road to whatever direction and the car will just do so by pulling to the sides.

Any comments are appreciated

Yeah I have taken the car in NUMEROUS times for balancing and blah blah blah and they just say the car is as aligned/smooth as its going to get. Kind of ghey ... I dont know what else to do frankly. Its a nice car otherwise. Lots of complements. Lots of people at work hating on me bc I am the new guy right out of college with a $35k car.

Just lower the tire pressure on your front left wheel to about 20 psi. That will correct the pulling to the right!

I had an older Saab 9-3 SE (2001) and it's steering pulled on the same
highway in nearly the same exact way. Drive on a small flat 2-lane road and
no real issue - both cars seemed the same - kind of freaked me out, but
it couldn't really be the cars I figure.

This led me to believe it was the road and tires, more than an actual
problem with the car.

Define pulling to the "side".

Do you mean when you let go of the wheel it pulls to the side OR do you mean when you hold the steering wheel straight it pulls to the side.

If it's the former than it could be your alignment. If it's the latter then it is just your steering wheel not bolted on straight. It happens in a lot of TLs (including mine) I had the dealer take a look at it and they fixed the stearing wheel with no questions asked. Now it's dead on center.

I have to hold the steering wheel very hard to let my car go straight on highways, if i dont hold it, it will go either left or right depends on the road. Unlike my other car, a 97 honda crv, it will go straight on highway even if I dont hold the steering wheel. The dealer told my because it is performance tire, so it is really sensitive to the road condition but i have drove mecedez and other performance car before, never had this problem.

Several things. Do you still have the stock, OEM tires?

Check and set your tire pressure. In order to get an accurate tire pressure reading, the car should not have been driven for a minimum of three hours. If you have a garage, make sure the car is in the garage when you do the check, otherwise, do it before the sun comes up or at night. And if you want a really accurate reading, park the car in a north/south direction, not east/west. Set the pressure to 34 pounds in the front. I know, it calls for 35 pounds, but 34 pounds wears the tires evenly and well.

If the situation persists, your problem is more serious and needs to be addressed by the dealer under warranty. If it's any help to you, the day I bought my car, I noticed a slight pull to the left as I drove home on level road surfaces. I immediately suspected unbalanced air pressure and that's exactly what it was. The left was down by 4 pounds compared to the right (all four tires were off.. not at all uncommon with new cars).

My car tracks and steers dead on with no indication of alignement or balance problems. Wear patterns on the tires are excellent. This is the second best steering car I've ever owned, and the second best rating is just barely second.

My car is almost brand new (only for 4 days) and the stock tires/rims are still on. I brought it back to the dealer and they said it is just a matter fact of wide tires...

It's nothing really. I bet 98% of the TL's get the pulling affect. It all depends on the road. You can also try to rotate the tires from the back to the front, and the front to the back. After I did this it went away, but it only comes up when you are on a uneven road. A road could be straight to your eyes, but it really isn't.

I know exactly what your talking about.......mine pulls uncomfortably to the side if I am in the fast lane of the highway.......however if I am in the middle it is super straight.......have had it at 140mph and let go of the steering......tracked super straight.......but on the outside lane its like a different car.

I believe the car is balanced properly.....but because of the front wheel drive and maybe performance tires it pulls extra hard to the side....more than what you may notice in a rear wheel drive. It still sucks though!

I make a point of driving in the middle lane now.....but it shouln't be that way.
I love the car....but that is very annoying!

When I let go of the steering wheel, my steering wheel turns to the right slightly and then pulls right. However, if I hold it straight, the car goes straight. That leads me to believe that this is NOT an alignment issue but the way the tires track on the road. I have the Bridgestone RE750 high-performance tires (summer tires).

I have noticed the same issue when travelling in the hammer lane of the expressway. I don't have any "pulling" when in the center lane, so I try to keep it there when traffic allows.

i have 245/40/18 Falken st115's. my TL tracks all f'd up. i can't even determine if it'a alignment or not.

on flat hwy it will track right. on crown road it tracks hard to the lower side.

i can easily hold it straight.

this is a odd issue that many seem to experience. i'm beginning to think it has something to do with weight distribution.

I have similar issues when driving the car on uneven pavements. I also suspect the over compensated power steering is also causing the car to track out of center from even the slightest uneven pavement. Keep an eye on it and then mention it to the dealer when you go for the first oil change. But I suspect they'll give you the same ol' recycled response. I'll be switching to winter tires next month and hopefully that will give me something to compare against.

Its called crowning and in large measure its due to the tires. The tendency will go away after a few K of tire wear. Forget the balancing and alignment rigamorole it will be useless and very frustrating. It will go away. If you cant wait get rid of the crappy turanzas and get better rubber.

i'm on Falken ST115's, tires do not seem to be the cause.

I have wrote an email to Acura Canada and dont know what will be their response to this problem. It seems very common on TL though.

If in the middle lane of a flat (relatively) highway, if you can let go of the wheel, and it stay tracked for 3 "phone poles" if you can remember how far apart they used to be, then that is supposed to be great alignment. If it drifts immediately, and you cannot see that the road is cupped or you are on a curve or bank, then your alignment is probably off. Some roads are deeply cupped if they are heavily traveled on by semi's, so sure it acts like rails to our stock 235's.

My accord went thru 3 dealers and 2 independent shops to get aligned and balanced before the last one landed it dead on, went for over a mile one time with the hands off the wheel, even around a turn, it tracked and straightened out on its own. Alignment is very difficult to get dead on, especially by the average inexperienced greasemonkey in these high turnover shops.

And yeah, in most left lanes, the road is banked for water drainage. When I was younger, I was always in the left lane cuz I was fast and cool, and my tire wear was always evident of it. Now in Hellanta, I found that the right 2 lanes are faster because everyone else still thinks the left lanes go fast. The right lanes are flatter from what I can tell and track better. I'm not always having to hold harder down on one side of the wheel to remain straight.

8:30.. wonder if I should do work yet....
