Question Bubbles on tires (Type S)

I just wonder if that's a common on the Type S due to the low profiel tires. Mine '02 is almost 2 years old and has less than 16K miles on it. I've already replaced two tires due to bubbles on the side wall. I've just notice another small one coming up on one of the two old tires. For those of you who have replace your tires, did you have the same problem?

Bubbles

I know its been two months since your post, but I replaced two Michelin MXM4's on the Front pass side due to bubbles. I have since replaced the Michelins with Sumitomo tires...any comments about Sumitomo tires? I wont get the Michelins again.

The bubbles aren't due to the tire brand...it's from having a soft sidewall. When the tire enters a pot hole the tire sometimes gets "pinched" due to the colapse of the sidewall causing a bubble.

With low profile tires, I highly recommend getting the lifetime warranty. It's $15/tire from Tire Discount and it's more than worth it. If there's anything they cannot fix, such as a bubble they will replace the tire for free.

So how soon should you replace a tire with a bubble? I just noticed one on my rear tire yesterday and don't remember hitting any potholes.

As soon as possible. You never know when it's going to go.

I've Got a Bubble!

Just noticed MY first bubbled tire - a right front.

Rats - new tires cost almost $200. I wonder if anyone has convinced Acura this is a defect and tirees should be replaced free?

Of course it has something to do with the tire brand. Michelins have been having these problems and none I heard so far from other brands. It may have something to do with the type of tire (height and width, etc..) and the weight of the car since it doesn't happen on the RSX (same tire, different size). The TL should NOT have used these tires in the first place. That's probably why the 04's has Bridgestones.

very very common...as most will suggest. Junk the stocks and get new tires on all 4. You'll save yourself more money in the long run and you'll get better traction and better ride with other tires. Conti's and Sumi's are the most popular on this forum. If your still interested, I have my stock 17's from my TL-S in the garage, $50 if you want one.
