Bridgestone Potenza re97as. Road noise!
anyone run these on their type s? I bought a type s yesterday and the previous owner had these put on fairly recently these things howl ridiculously loud. Had a long road trip home and my ears were even ringing when I got back. Anyone run Toyo or Hankook and are they quieter? I can likely get a deal on Toyo ,Hankook, sumitomo, kenda maybe a few others

Plenty of tire threads out there that discuss the re970as along with lots and lots of other tire options. More than likely the lack of tire rotation and/or a bad suspension component has worn these tires funky causing the road noise you are complaining about. Asking if anyone is running Toyo or Hankook is pointless here...those are brands, not specific tire models. Go dig through the Tire section and read up and figure out your next move on the replacements.

AND
each and every tire manufacture is different.
probably better off reading Consumer Reports with their generic reviews and descriptions
Tires are super weird because YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY try them for yourself....and if you like a particular tire, keep buying it

Bridgestone is death to me now, had two set and they making terrible noise as they are aging. I only go with Michelin or Continental now.

I bought my TL with mismatched tires (Sumitomo and Falkens) and the roadnoise was horrendous so recently bought some Bridgestone Potenza Re71r's and they are pretty noisy too.. not a fan

i had the re970as previously and they were fantastic all around, just a little heavy. i understand the re97s are different but thought i would put up my 2 cents that not all bridgestone are horrible
you mean the continental DWS06
the DWS06 is the much improved version of the DWS and i currently have them on my car

Continental DWS06 hands down. Slightly louder than my old worn Grand Touring Michelins on my Accord but much stickier! These are going to be the quietest UHPAS you can find!

Whereas the BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S are ranked #1 the tirerack's UHP category.
Having had the old DWS's before, I can say these tires are extraordinarily better, and a little cheaper to boot.

Well. I ended up putting Sumitomo PO2 on and it's still noisy. The Sumis got an excellent rating on tirerack but they're as loud as the Bridgestones. Got them at a helluva deal tho but will replace them soon.

If you put brand new tires on and it is still noisy....something else is wrong. Either your expectations of how quiet the car is supposed to be are off, or there are bad door seals or wheel bearings...or something like that. Even new "cheap" tires should be fairly quiet....for a while. Even when I had "noisy" tires on my car, it was just barely louder and far from annoying.
