Bridgestone EL42 swap with RE750

Yesterday I called Acura CS and told them about my concerns with the EL42s. They documented it under my account and then asked me to call the Bridgestone CS at 1-800-367-3872..

I talked to a wonderful lady at Bridgestone CS who was very pleasant and initiated a case for my concerns. She then set up an appointment with a local Bridgestone dealer (non-franchise). The local Bridgestone dealer called and reconfirmed the appointment for this morning.

I took my car in this morning for a physical evaluation of the tires after which the Bridgestone dealer got an approval from corporate for RE750 replacements for my car which are due in tomorrow 1100 local.

Now here's what really impressed me. The Bridgestone dealer told me that they have a 30 guarantee during which they will take the tires back if I am not 100% satisfied or if I develop any similar characteristics of the EL42s. The store manager stated that they will buy me Yokohamas or Michelins or GoodYears if they have to at that time.

I'm impressed. I hope these RE750s do work out though.

Well, the 750s are much better tires than the EL42s made for the TL anyway. Nice job!

By the way, my dad was in the USAF for 23 years, retiring a bit over 10 yr ago. I'm an old Air Force Brat. So welcome to the board, Chief! (CMSgt? Just asking. )

how many miles do you have on your car with the EL42's? my tires are basically bald...and i slide around in dry conditions...and im only at 16k....i wanna get them replaced through the bridgestone if i can. did you just buy the car and a few hundred miles later you called them because of the concerns you found out about on the forum?

NFLblitze1...

I bought the car Nov 4 (less than a month ago) and everything seemed normal. It rained about a week ago and I felt a little rear instability around some corners on a highway that I drive every day.

I parked the car and drove the 06 Accord for a few days over the Thanksgiving weekend. When I started driving the TL again I noticed a roughness until the tires rounded out again in a few miles. Also of note was that the tires left an impression on my garage floor at all four spots. Never had that happen before and I've owned about 30 new vehicles in my lifetime.

So I began doing some internet research and found plenty of -ve experiences on the Tire Rack, The Temple of VTEC, and this web site. I also remembered what the salesperson strongly emphasized during the delivery of my vehicle...he made too much of a point about "if you have any trouble with these tires you must go to Bridgestone first". I just thought it was a little unusual becasue of all the vehicles I have bought I've never really had someone point that out so enthusiastically.

I have 1850 miles on the car right now and hope that the replacement RE750s that I get tomorrow will work out better.

An awesome car in all other aspects though.

I did the same thing

Well very similar situation...
I emailed the district manager for the area and basically told him that these tires unsafe he offered to sell me any tires at half off so at the moment I am looking at the wide oval from firestone which suppose to be same as RE750 rebadged and also quieter too i've heard..still have to pay about 300$ for everything or 375$ if i want road hazard insurance...gonna get it done in about a week...oh by the way when i brought it in i was at 16k miles which they measure ..i still have 5/32 left in the middle but the sides are close to bald...they saying i have half tread left so they give me half "satisfaction credit"

I have been told that the Firestone Wide Oval is an excellent tire...as a matter of fact one of my colleagues put some on his 2G TL about mid summer and he's very happy with them...says he replaced the Cooper Lifelines that came OEM on them...I've never heard of Coopers as any OEM tire.

Wish you the best with your Firestone Wide Ovals.

Got the RE750s on this afternoon. The store manager was kind enough to order the 245/45/17 which do look so much better. The handling is crisper and I feel more confident with these tires on...roadnoise is mild and similar to the EL42s

Let me get some miles on them and give you all an update.
