Question braking noise

I am getting a sharp noise from the brake , when the car is just about to stop, (more like when a school bus comes to a stop the noise that comes from the brakes ).
Is this normal ?? Atleast thats what the dealer says .......
Does any one have an idea or come across this kind of a problem?!!!!

Welcome to the forum

Did the dealer actually perform a brake inspection- remove the wheels and look at the rotors and pads? They like to sell repairs and rarely say something is normal.
In general - brake noises need to be looked at!!!

There is a metal tab on the brake pads that touches the rotor when you apply the brakes- when the pads are very low- to signal you with a bad noise

Other causes are rotors with grooves or edge build up or new pads on rotors that were not resurfaced and many more

Did you just buy this car? What year and model is it- miles- any history of car or event just before the noise?

Yes the dealer said that the pads are OK and they inspected the brake system. They say that the disc brake squeel is quite normal. This is an acura tl 04 .And it has about 34000 miles on it , recently purchased , acura certified !!!?Rear rotors resurfaced but I doubt the front ones are done .

Go to another dealer and drive an 04 to see if it makes the same noise
It could be just OE style pad noise which you can fix by installing better pads.
34k is really low miles to have needed rear brakes- if it did- then the fronts have been replaced once for sure because they do 70 percent of the braking and wear out much sooner - could have thin rotors in front
Dealer should provide written specs of min thickness and measured amount of rotor and pads from their inspection report
Please be specific- who said the brakes are ok and normal?
Has anyone physically checked the brakes since purchase
Take it to a tire and brake shop for a free inspection for 2nd opinion

Cerified Acura only means they went thru a checklist of basic items and ran the VIN to see if any warranty recalls need fixing- which they get paid by Acura to fix!
