Brakes question..
Brakes question..
Hello everyone,
I have a question about warranties and brakes. My TL has developed a tendency to vibrate when I apply the brakes at high speeds. Since my car is a few months shy of one year old and I have almost 20k miles on it, would this be covered under warranty? I know brakes are typically maintenance items and thus, not usually covered, I tend to think that this is abnormally quick to have brake problems. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

You may be out of luck. It may be considered a maintenance issue, not a warranty.
We had a brake problem on our Jeep (squick) and they did not want to do nothing about it. After bothering them for a long while, they covered it, but only because it was under 12k miles. Pass that it would be wear and tear issue.
I would imagine Acura does not have a 4 yr/50k mile warranty on their brakes.
Worth checking into, though

Big woot to the Acura warranty department! I called the dealership to get a status and they said that I have very little wear on my brake pads (relative to 20k miles) but my rotors were warped. They called the warranty department and they said that since I have little wear and probably don't ride my brakes much, they decided to issue a one time only warranty on the brakes!! Woo hoo!

I may be wrong haha..
I had the exact same problem. It seems Acura carried over the exact same brake system from the 2nd Gen to the 3rd Gen 5AT TLs. I am not a hard or late braker and never ride my brakes either. Mine started to become warped after about 10K miles. I noticed it while braking at highway speeds which remained until the car came to a stop. I called it to the dealer's attention at about 12K. They resurfaced my front rotors and replaced the rears. It's been fine since then. I plan on replacing them with aftermarket Brembo OEM rotors which are much less warp prone after my warrantee is over. I had good luck with them with my Camry. Good luck.
