big trouble with rims. weird stuff leaking out of holes

<p>I have a set of Jaz Trinity that I have been storing until recently. I have this problem everytime I wash my car or wheels. Water would leak out of those little holes in the wheels. Not such a big deal if it is just water, but it is this gross dark orange color, maybe rust related. I clean my wheels and tires, then park in garage. Next way after I look when I got to work, there is that stuff splattered all over the wheels again.

Is this something common? What are those holes there for anyways? Could it be from rusty disc brakes? I notice it only leaks out of the lower holes. I even tried to use little pieces of paper towels and stick them into the holes to try to soak up everything after I wash, it still happens.

Thanks to that now I have to keep spray, paper towels, a lot of q-tips in my car all the time. Please help.

Looks like rust to me.

Try taking off the wheels, putting a small piece of electrical tape over
each hole from the inside and then reinstall the wheels.
If it still happens, you may just have to use a q-tip on each hole after washing.

I dont have had jaz Trinitys, but did have Axis Milanos (same style). I had those exact holes as well, but they did not go all the way through. I had water get in them, but never any rust come out. Like Impo Skyline says, check to see if those holes go all the way through, then you can A, do the tape thing, or B, clean your rotors and spray paint them with high temp paint.

I will try taking off the wheel. About the qtipping thing, after a wash, there are lots of water inside. I stick tiny pieces of paper towels until it stops saturating the paper towels, next day it'll still splatter out.

I'll update this thread when I find out more.

I have Axis Milano's which are very identical to those wheels. I have those holes also what I do after a wash is either use compress air and get all the water out of those small holes, or use a q-tip in all those small holes. Works great and I no longer have that problem anymore after doing that.

The first time I used qtips, I used like 10+ sticks for one hole and it didnt nearly soak it all up. That was when i started twirling paper towels in there. I use the qtips now to wipe of the rust residue in the holes after they dry out. But the compress air idea sounds very promising. I have a compressor in the garage.

I'll still check to see if those holes go all the way through. Chances are they do though. I don't see where all that stuff would come from otherwise, theses were new wheels. I kept them boxed unopened for over a year. We'll see whatsup.

If you use a compressor to blow out the holes, please use eye protection. If the hole doesn't go all the way through you're gonna be wearing all that rust.

My wheels used to do the same thing ..

Take the wheel off, dry the hole out and squirt a small dab of silicone sealant in each hole from the back.

What you have is water entering the holes and sitting in the pocket behind the hole and rusting on the hub then spinning out when you move.

I had the Rays 203, same style, same holes....it pissed me off, b/c after i washed the car and drove, soapy water came out

i have a shop-vac i use for the inside, so i just reverse it, and blow the water out when drying the car... i sometimes dry the whole car using the reverse-air feature.... better than towels
