big problem with oem tpms!

so i go to goodyear today since they were recommended by tire rack, and try to get my oem tpms transferred to my new aftermarket rims (19" stern st-2). when i get back they tell me they have a problem, the Acura TPMS wont fit right on the new rim x_X!!!! i'm like fuck... and so we sit there and talk about it then we go to acura and they say they can't disable the system.

soo... i need some help really quick! is there any way to keep that light from coming on ? or will aftermarket sensors be picked up by the oem system? i asked the guy at acura and he said that aftermarket systems won't work with the original system. is that true? need help asap!

No way to disable system... this is true... light will always come on after 5 minutes of driving....

No, aftermarket sensors will not work with OEM system....

What wheels do you have??? are they multi-piece construction??? If so, I have a solution for you...

the tech at goodyear say that he could possibly throw all 4 sensors into 1 wheel and that would "trick" the system. would that work?

really wish i could keep the tpms with the new rims anyways =[

I did the same thing as Rodney but I made the strap on kit from a DIY I found on here

http://www.g35driver.com/forums/brak...et-wheels.html

I think strapping down the sensors is a better route so you can still use the TPMS for safety reasons.

OR

You can always try to put all the sensors in a canister aka "TPMS Bomb" mod.

Goodyear doesn't know what they are talking about. The sensors will absolutly fit in a Stern ST-2. I wouldn't want them mounting my tires. Go to a new place.

question...tpms system error and found that i need a new sensor (1). if i order it online can i just stab it right in or is there programming involved.

dealer charges $100 bucks and i found the sensor for $29 and can replace it myself.

you can just throw it in there and the system should pick up the new one. Also a cheaper fix could be the battery is dead on the tpms, the only shitty part is that you wont know whats the matter until you take the tire off.

The battery isn't replaceable. If the battery is dead, you have to replace the entire sensor...

Also, aftermarket TPMS *DO* work, as long as you get ones that operate on the correct frequency... The TPMS that shipped with my RDX accessory wheels have a sticker on it, saying they are not OEM Acura Parts, but they are "Compatible".

Also, I replaced the sensors on my G35 with aftermarket sensors, because the aftermarket ones were lower profile, and had a removable stem, which allowed me to strap them into my Work Wheels. They were "Guaranteed to be Compatible with OEM System" by the manufacturer of the sensors.

i was going to say the same thing. i bought new sensors for my winter tire setup and they work just fine. just drive around for like 5min and the whole system is linked. sounds like you got a bunch of bum advice!
