Post ::::::Better Sway Bar?::::::

i was just on tirerack.com and saw that h&r has a rear sway bar same size as comptech, but it is adjustable! on top of that, they already come with urethane bushings (no squeeks/no lubracating required). the price is $160 (not shipped). i did a search in the forum, but couldn't find anything. anyone out there know if this sway bar is better than CT?? does anyone have it?

Some have discussed this already in the forums, but when they went to order it it was backordered (meaning..it's not released yet)...for months.

It's still cheaper to get a Comptech with aftermarket poly bushings than that price though.

Not sure how it could be "adjustable"...it's a sway bar.

You can get a Comptech Sway Bar from Josh for $120.00 shipped plus $15.00 more if you want the energy bushing. The Comptech Bar is 22mm. You could call Tire Rack and talked to a rep.

I think that this is one case where if everybody is using Comptech might as well follow.

there are a couple sway bars along with coilovers available. The reason you only see the same ones over and over again on the forums is because all the other ones are way more expensive

yeh...but there is only one for the 3rdgen..the REAR sway bar will make a difference. Probably more noticable without a drop than with one...but its definitely one of the top 3[IMO] best bang for buck mods for the 3rdgen and also in the $100 range.

It keep the car flat during cornering. Bigger sway bar means the car leans less in fast corning.

Pretty damn nicely. The OEM sway bar is 17mm, the Comptech RSB is 22mm. A much needed item if you want a clean ride in the turns.

Couldn't pull up the link. But 20mm is what Acura puts on their 6MT's. I think it what they put on the new TypeS as well. Comptech sway bar is 22mm.

Go with the CT Bar you can get one from Josh for about $125 shipped. http://www.excelerateperformance.com...l?view=contact

That's a pretty good price. Not knocking, if that's what you want. Most of the guys with the 6MT are upgrading to the 22MM of the CT.

I hardly see the point though...don't forget there is shipping to add, and 20mm really is not enough to justify doing the upgrade. The Comptech bar costs more because it specially designed to DO something more than stock.

best damn bang for your buck (performance + feel) out there. Plus it is one of the least intrusive mods out there.

Nice, then I think it will be going on my "to buy" list. Would I need to buy anything; other than the CT Sway bar, to install it?

Just order up the Comptech bar. It comes with new bushings and you reuse the stock brackets.

Some people upgrade the bushings to polyurethane ones due to a potential noise problem. However we have installed a number of comptech bars, and the bushings they come with have yet to cause a problem for us at all.

$45 w/shipping....and 2MM while it will make some difference, I don't think it's enough to justify 3x the cost...but to each his own....

Sorry I'm asking so many question. Does replacing the stock sway with the CT void any Acure warranty?

Maybe you would not think it is worth it, but the fact of the matter is one bar is not going to meet the same performance goals as the other. So, for a bar that does what a customer wants, it could be worth FOUR times the cost. However, as you are also pointing out, people all have different goals. IMO, if you are going to be satisfied with such a subtle upgrade, why not save the $45 and buy something else?

And try not to think of it as spending more money on just more millimeters....I doubt if the size of the bar is linearly related to the performance you get. The comptech bar is a significant enough upgrade for the MT drivers to get also.

chfields, I wish I lived around you so I could show you exactly what the CT bar does. Taking a corner as if I was on a rail (think of a rollercoaster taking a turn). As Mr Heeltoe as said, even people with the 6MT are upgrading.

Maybe you should try and testdrive a 6MT at the dealer and see if that's what you want.

Looking at my old bar, thinking if I was hit with it. It wouldn't really hurt. But the CT Bar would knock me on my ass.
