best spring choice?

I'm looking to drop my TL about an inch and also, tighten up the suspension a bit.

I've had Eibach springs in other cars (non TL) and I've always liked them. What is the prefered setup for the TL?

Thanks

i'm contemplating either the progress springs or H&R's. would love to see a comparison. this should be in tires, wheels, and suspension btw

Prokit and HTechs have a nice drop.
STechs is a pretty low drop and I heard the ride is kinda rough.
ASpec is barely noticeable to me atleast.
Comptech and Progress is decent but I heard the rear sags a little.
Alot of people like the H&R's.

I think the safest for the struts are the HTechs and ofcourse ASpec and I'm pretty sure Comptech as well.

I'm a Tein guy, so I'm with HTechs

Would it be safe putting aftermarket springs on the stock shocks? I can't really afford the entire setup ;].

don't go to low and you should be fine, i would suggest you save up and get the complete set-up so you wont regret it later on.

Check out the Eibach Pro-Kit I installed on my 2007 TL Type S. It is in the Wheels, Tires and Suspension Thread #355 on 255/40/17 Tires, which I installed. You can see the before and after pictures on this thread I purchased the Eibach Pro-Kit from Tire Rack for $216. shipped

I can feel the difference and I have to b careful of driveways and dips, but the looks are so much better and the tire difference I really like. I felt the rims overwhelmed the tires before they were changed. It is really stiff when putting hand pressure on it by pushing down, and I rode with 3 in the car last week on Sat and didn't bottom out on it. Handling is a real improvement also. Anyone need stock tires (235/45/17 All Season Michelin) with 2500 miles on them?

How much did you pay to have the kit installed?

I paid 300. to get it installed and I know that was too much, but wanted it done right by someone I knew would do it right.

Man those wheels look so much better than the 04-06 stocks, good choice.
I like it!!!!!

Was it a perfect fit with the BBK on the TL-S?

I had to use 3mm spacers to clear the Brembo Calipers. I just couldn't stand the original black wheels that came with the Type S, so I requested the dealer place the stock TL rims on. It just barely cleared, so I bought 3mm spacers and there are no issues. You can check out the differences in the Suspension,Wheel and Tire thread for 3G TL that is listed as 255/40/17 tires for your stock rims, thread #355. It will show all the before and after pictures with the stock tires 235/45/17 and with the difference with the Eibach springs on.

so they cleared you just added the spacer to get a bit more clearance. Is that correct? Thanks.

Thanks so much for your help on the quote. At the dealer they had the car up on the rack while they were changing the wheels and showed me that it was clear (less then 1mm) and said that if you hit a pot hole or bump you could have problems. It made since to me, so I purchased the 3mm spacers and it was perfect and couldn't tell any difference. You can't even see them because they blend in so well (same color). I really like the set up now because it looks great and I didn't have to deal with changing the wheels. I think most of the wheels look the same anyways, they are all double spoke bars or bars in configurations of 5, 6, 7 or more. I liked the way these wheels looked and they were big enough for me at 17x8, so I just got bigger tires to compliment the look after finding the thread.
