Avant Garde Wheels

Hey.. Need some advice here..

2008 NBP TL-S dropped on TEIN SS and looking at these rims in Dolphin Gray..

19x8.5 35 Offset front
19x9.5 40 Offset Rear

Would it fit or do i have to roll fenders? and are they decent wheels?

(both pics are of dolphin gray)

Yea they should fit...I just sold a set of wheels 19x8.5 +35 fronts and 19x9.5 +40 rears with 225 in the front and 245 in the rear. The type of wheel I bought I had to get a set of 3mm spacers for the front to clear the brembos but other than that they were perfect fit. That's a nice rim your lookin at BTW

Excellent.. thanks for the info.. Having a 225 tire in the front was due to adding the spacer or was is just preference?

Those are pretty nice, although I'm not crazy about the branding on the lip. What do these weigh?

I am not sure of the weight but yeah i see your point on the branding.. maybe a touch-up with black paint wont let it stand out to much..

they also have this color combo but i think i like the dolphin gray more..

^^Think you forgot the link?

Regardless, greyish/gunmetal wheels look best on a black car IMO. I'm getting F14's in gunmetal.

I was looking for a little stretch, I was planning on rolling front and rear and getting some spacers for that flush look. 3mm spacer is like nothing, I could of gotten a bigger one and still would have been safe even with a fitting tire.

They would have fit fine with 245 front and 265 rear though.

I'm looking for another set of wheels now...I wanna do 9.5s all around.

I just got an email from a vendor who is telling me that 19x9.5 +40 for the rear is aggressive for my car..

I am wondering if he is trying to be cautious in case they don't fit but a lot of guys run this setup right? would i possibly have to roll fenders?

Refer to this thread for 19" flush setup. It has really good information.

That setup would put you out 24mm in the rear, so it is getting somewhat aggressive. Probably doable without rolling fenders if you stay with a 235 tire. But then again, even a 245 will have a mild stretch on a 9.5" rim, depending on the tire brand.

Thanks.. a lot of good info right there..

sooo if i have this right.. running 19x8.5 35 offset with a 235/35/19 tire (all around) should work fine with NO Fender roll.. but might need a 3-5mm spacer in the front to clear brakes. (would i need a spacer in the rear as well just to even it out or it's not noticeable)

Just FYI.. I am a fan of the flush look/stretched tire but it is not something i am going for right now.. i have 2 kid seats in the back and I just want my ride to look different than many of the stock looking TL's out there..

I was told the same thing when I got my Avant Garde M310's. They are just trying to cover there ass so you don't return them. I did 19x9.5 +40 with a 245/35/19 all the way around and didn't need to roll my fenders. Not sure if they'll clear Brembo's with out spacers.

You will not have to roll rear fenders. That is not aggressive IMO. Here is 19x9.5 in the rear 40MM offset.

The setup you have is the setup im looking into getting now. I have brembos and thats what Im worried about. brake clearance.

The setup above is 35mm in the front and I needed a 3mm spacer to clear the brakes.

NICE choice in rim.. i was looking at those as well, its good to see someone with the setup i'm looking to get.

I looked into your album and there is a picture (#5) of the back tire. Is that the same setup i should have? If it is then you made my decision easier because i like the way that looks.

19x8.5 35 Offset front
19x9.5 40 Offset Rear

Not gonna say that I'm 100% sure that offset by any wheel company will clear Brembo's but I know my rims would clear them.

Thanks, took me a while till I found a wheel that really caught my eye. Avant Garde makes a few really nice styles. At the time they only had the M310's in a 5x114. Nice to see they are making a few of there other styles in a bolt pattern that fits our vehicles.

Yes, that setup is what your rear wheel should look like also. Those wheels do have a concave style to them. With the 19x8.5 +35 in front there will be little to no concave to them. This was one of the major reasons why I went with 9.5 +40 all the way around. That and being able to rotate my wheels seeing as I drive about 60k+ miles a year.

Gryphen....those wheels look hot and are the ones i am looking at...i was going to go with the 9.5 and 40 offset as well but i was gonna see if i can do a 235/35 instead of a 245/35 only because im dropped on tein basics, maxed out in rear and about 3/4 from maxing out in the front..what do you guys thinks?can a 235/35 be done on a 9.5 wheel?

Genedog...those wheels are very nice as well...good choice....im in for pics

the wheels i have now are the drag dr-37 and they are 19x8.5 with a 40 offset and they DO clear the brembos....so ur choice should clear the calipers

Ya, a 235 can be done on a 9.5" rim. That is actually the size tire that was recommended to me to use. I chose a 245 because I'm not a huge fan of the overly stretched tire look. Depending on your camber and if you plan on rolling your fenders you shouldn't really have any issues running a 245 even with your drop.

I say he is too cautious.
20's are too agressive for your car.

I'm surprised you don't rub up front with your setup and a 245, since you're 24mm out from stock. I though pretty much everyone who tried 25mm spacers up front with 235's on stock wheels ended up rubbing. Maybe it's because the 245 is stretched just enough on the 9.5, compared to a 235 on an 8" wheel?

20's look a little silly to me on a TL, but they're no more aggressive than a 19, since the 30 series vs the 35 series tire will have the same OD. It's width and offset that make a wheel aggressive.

They are between 250.00 - 275.00 a pop so about 1,500 and change for wheels and tires, shipping included..Not sure if i can link vendor sites here but you can find them at a wheel studio

I first saw them on the show TOP GEAR they were on a Porsche and liked the style. http://www.avantgardewheels.com/

Technically a 255 or a 265 would actually work fine with a 40 offset on 9.5 wide rim. I had 245 on a 9.5 and I had plenty of room to put a wider tire.

There's some dude on here running a 10.5 wide rim with 265 all around with only a roll in the rear. So a 255 should be fine all around. I think that's the new setup I'm gonna go with 19x9.5 x4 w/ 255/35 @ +40

Trio your TL was the inspiration for my purchase of my Avant Garde M310's. Your TL is the epitome of every thing done right.

They may be heavy but Avant Garde has recently started building a forged version of the M310's. What the price tag is gonna be on them and if they will make them in a 5x114 will be something you may have to contact Avant Garde about.

From Avant Gardes blog:
"Building off the success of our M310, we have decided to start building a fully forged version of our popular mesh design. The result is our new F310. To start off 2012, we would like to introduce the Avant Garde Function and Avant Garde Form series of wheels. These exceptionally lightweight and strong wheels will be available in forged format via mono-block (19″/20″), 3 piece standard (17″/18″/19″/20″) and 3 piece concave (17″/18″/19″/20″) configurations. All designs are engineered using state-of-the-art Solidworks and FEA software and exceed SAE/JWL testing parameters. Finally, the designs come to life being milled out of aerospace grade 6061 aluminum heat treated to T6 hardness. 100% designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA."

And now a shameless plug of my TL with the M310's to show how sexy they are:

I am having a hard time trying to find an online vendor besides the wheel studio place.. I wanted to compare prices but it seems that they are the only one carrying them.. I send and email to AvantGarde for a list of vendors but no reply yet..

Before Avant Garde updated there site for 2012 they use to have a vendor section. I checked them all and wheelstudio.com and getyourwheels.com was the cheapest of them all (fyi: they are the same vendor). Wheel studio is where I ordered my wheels from.

I'm callin wheel studio when I get home from work today. I wanna make sure that 19x9.5 +40 is gonna clear my brembos up front. If all goes well I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the wheels at the top of the post in that dolphin grey. I'll see what hey have to say and how the customer service is.
