automatic speedo adjustment?

I have an '05 TL navi. I just bought some '99 TL wheels to put winter tires on. the winter wheels are 16" vs. the stock wheels are 17". i found a tire size that gave me an overall diameter that was very close to that of the original tire/wheel combination, but not exactly (off by about 1%, which i know is considered very acceptable).

I was wondering if the speedometer is connected to the GPS system in the car and automatically adjusts itself to minor tire size changes? if not, i wonder why Acura did not make this a feature, seems like a simple idea to me.

thanks

Here is what it looks like now. i actually think i like it more. either way, it will be fun to have two different looks.

got the wheels for under 300 bucks (including shipping). they are in good shape. look very good from 5 feet away, but show some scraches (no rash) when you get closer. i am very happy. i cannot wait for snow to try these Hankook Ipike W409's out. i heard alot of good things about them.
